I've had lots of dealings with Jim - the past 8 years or so with two different boats. Maybe 15K in business. The first was a Spectra 20 V drive. Jim built me a 580 horse or so roller motor. It's still running on the third owner. Thank god for MSD chips. He replaced a ton of old worn out parts, the rudder, stuffing box, took me to the lake with 5 different props to try (What do you mean take that prop back off - it's sold!)... Next a Hallet with a turbo motor. Same deal. Jim is a ten. The big challenge is getting him on the phone. I drive down and have a seat in the big chair, read all his mags, and wait my turn. SHARP guy with great wrenches in the back. I have a buddy with a Spectra GN down there now getting the full treatment and he's very satisfied. I've sent a bunch of people over there, and nobody's bitching... HTH. Good luck.

I sold the Hallett to buy a Schiada... Jimmy had it for a while and then he in turn sold it as well. I see it at Parker on the strip a lot and I believe the new owner stays at Emerald (at least that's where I have seen it on the ramp a couple times) There's pics of it up on the wall in his shop. It came out nice.
I kinda punked out and took the wife's direction on the new boat (it's an OB, of all things)... More room inside for our twin girls and it starts and runs every time, without hitting the trailer every night for a run to Parker Oil for a fillup... All the ski race homos I know like to ski behind it, so I guess it's not all bad. (on second thought, I think ANYTHING they can get up behind is fair game)
I'll get another V drive again once the girls get older. Yours is sure nice. It should go fast.

I used to have a Vector too. I loved that boat, good hull and great handling. My boat has been layed up for a while. I just had the motor redone and I've been wanting to go back to Parker but the new noise law worries me. I have most of the parts to convert the exhuast to a thru transom style which is how the Vector was set up. That's why I was wondering about Wilkes. I figure I may as well use the boat till it sells. Plus getting out on the water is more exposure..

Your turbos should keep the motor noise down, plus they are facing up and not out which helps a bit. You should be able to run it at Parker, just keep your foot out of it when the Sheriff's boats are around and definitely around all the high dollar waterfront places. I guess since their houses are worth $1M + they feel they have the right to complain about every noisy boat going by on a hot lap. There's a guy at Echo out early every AM in a blown Daytona with dry pipes and I've never seen him get hassled yet. Wilkes could handle your exhaust easy. He made me some bitchen SS jacketed pipes from the turbos down to the transom on my old Hallett. I'd stop by and drop off your boat photos and info. He gets people from all across the country calling him looking for nice used V drives. Maybe he can help you move it? Good luck.

Even if they did. 1st one $80. just drive low key not like a Donkey. and you will be fine.
I did get one in Havasu at the sandbar but mine's badplus it didn't help going past him at 93 mph. :p if I would have saw him I would have shut it down but OH well. speed was ok but mine is one of the loudest boats out there, I have CMI 2 1/4" headers with 5" tailpipes ;).

ANYONE?? been to Parker this year? How are handling the new noise law?
Rushin Roulette - first off - kick ass ride. I found it a while back on boatrader. I bet it gets up and moves. My 21 Schiada with a similar motor moves out well, but my rig is most likely heavier than your hull. By the way, did your engine builder put your engine together with silicon? (inside joke - see SGettmann's engine thread for further clarity)
On noise, don't know about Parker since that's a bit of a hull for the weekend, but in Idaho/Washington, at idle, my turbo system came in at 89 dB at idle. I was pulled over on the Snake River last summer. The officer came across with attitude, but basically smoothed him over with "how can I help you do your job" attitude. He loosened up, gave me the paperwork to show that I was tested at 89 dB, and said to keep my foot out of it near the marina. He was pretty cool, then went off to go nail the tournament boat with ballast tanks that kept on circling around me with a tuber while I was pulled over. So, I have my get out of jail free card, that stays with my registration.
Hope that this helps. You're boat will sell, it takes a special market for it. I had to look long and hard for mine, since I wanted an open stringered boat that was an NWSRA boat, and it had to be a Schiada V-Drive.

You would think that the ski racers would be all over this boat. I your opinion, what would it take to make it a 4 seater?

RUSHIN ROULETTE
02-17-2006, 09:50 AM
Ya, I used to think about ski racing it or maybe some GN racing. I think if the front seat was moved up a bit you could squeeze in a rear bench maybe, or possible move the motor back a little also. I have seen this hull with full interior seating for 5 people before in a v-drive setup, but with alot less power, so the motor was set further back.

All kidding aside. WHy is this boat taking so long to sell. It is perfect! Well except the fact that the seats dont face the right direction. Can I store it for you, while you wait for it to sell???

I keep asking myself the same question..."why is it taking so long to sell"
I guess I will have to take it down to Parker more often this year so people can see it in person and see it run.
