What is the going market price for a BBC (454) block. Assuming there is no damage or machining. No rotating assembly included. Mark IV vintage. Found one for $400 and was not sure if it was too high?

I was looking for one after I spun a bearing in my 454 about this time last year. I saw a couple of motors, complete for $600. Found one exceptional deal, complete boat motor. 4 bolt main, but oval port heads for $250. Should have jumped on it just for the hell of it. I don't think $400 is too ridiculous if it's a standard bore block, offer $300!

Qwityurbitchen, I had to pay 500 for a 440 block. I tried to hardblok mine and failed. haha. Chevy parts are a dime a dozen. Depending on what kind of powerhouse you are building, check out jegs, Merlin/world products are making killer aftermarket blocks now.

By 440, I'm assuming you mean a chrysler. Too bad. I gave a 440 block (+.030)and crank away for nothing. Had no use for it.....

I have a Mark IV 454 long block available. Its complete from heads to pan, most parts you would not want to reuse as it is a cast crank/pistons motor. Bought it new in 1993 as a replacement for a 330hs/7.4. Standard bore and crank but would need boring, seized while sitting unused. email is Heavychevss@aol.com will do just under $300.
