I agree completely with the guys who suggest a 454 chevy. Look at it this way. You spend money on your 455 to hop it up, it blows just like everyone says, then you need a 454 chevy anyway. That is a lot more $$$$ than you originally anticipated. My advice. Leave the 455 stock and start building a 454 chevy, that way you don't have any down time off the water.

First boat18 Advenger had a 455 olds. 10 years later still running no problems. Now 2nd boat gona hear about this one.28 Hawaiian Was a BBC motor was gone so I replaced with an 455 olds. Yes chevy are cheaper to build but all motors will preform if you have the right machinest and you don't cut corners. Besides everyone has a chevy, I like to be different. http://free.***boat.net/ubb/biggrin.gif

FIRST OFF THEY CAN TAKE THAT BB CHEV AND STICK IT UP THIER ASS!!! THE OLDS PRODUCES MORE TORQUE THAN THE BB CHEV TORQUE IS WHAT YOU NEED IN A JET BOAT OLDS ARE GOOD TOO 5000,5500 RPM IF YOU WANT TOO KNOW HOW TO MAKE INEXPENSIVE HP & TQ LET ME KNOW PLEASE NOTE: THE BB CHEV IS GREAT FOR A V-DRIVE OR A STERN DRIVE BUT YOU DON'T HAVE EITHER SO AGAIN DON'T LISTEN TOO PEOPLE ON THE BB CHEV

The one to call is Dr. Oldsmobile, Joe Mondello. Knows more about Oldsmobiles then anyone on the planet. Has any part that you may need, stock or high performance. He also has an excellent catalog for parts and the correct way to assemble an Olds. He is located in Paso Robles. I'll have to do some digging to find his number. 411 should have it.

230EAGLE, I think your reply was right on. When I looked to sweeten up my Spectra, I considered replacing the Olds with a BBC. When I did the homework and compared the numbers, the Olds came out on top. Very good torgue, it's what jets love.

don't bother calling mondello's the number i gave you is the guy who built most of the motors that came out of mondello's shop for many many years.
