I have recently purchased an 18 foot flat bottom v-drive with a Menkens Drive. There is an adjuster screw on the bottom gear on the outside. What is this for? Where should it be set? I think it is for backlash but not sure. Any help would be appreciated.

That lock screw is for splitting the front case after all of the bolts have been removed, just make sure that it has no contact on the bearing and lock it down.

Hey thanks. I think I am going to need quite a bit of help with this. Pretty much v-drive ignorant. (as if you couldn't tell)
