I have a biesemeyer sprint boat (SS) 522 cu in. 12.5 compresion with one carburetor. 25% gear 11.25 X 15 menkens prop. Runs 106 mph at
6500 rpm. Great river boat, turning left and accelerating hard is more fun than running over 100 mph.

Hondo flat, mild 466" BBF, Gale Banks turbocharged/intercooled 14-15lbs on gas. 37% gear & 11.5 x 15 prop. 7200 rpms with 2 fat guys in it.

058,
how many rpms with one fat guy in the boat?
By the way, I think you said you have 2 or 3 flatties, which are you taking to Tower Park?
And by the way again. A while back you posted a pic of your baot in a building with 2 other boats. One, maybe 2 of them looked to be wood deckers. Are they yours?

How about a Schiada v bottom with a 1000 hp 505 cubic inch turbo big block Chevy, 1.48 gear, 5800 rpm, 11 1/2 x 15 prop, that should make an honest 100 mph, driveable even in bumpy water. Photos available, engine for sale without the boat, email agt001@aol.com

Hey Old rigger, long time no chat. How have you been? All 3 of those flats are indeed mine. I will prob. take the Lavey to Tower, its more suitable for delta use, a bit more freeboard, carries more fuel and idles quietly at 600 rpms. [thru transom exhaust] Both the Howard [orange boat] and the Lavey are wood deck hulls. Unfortunatly I glassed and painted the wood over on the Howard because the weather wasn't kind to the wood when it was stored outside, it is now stored inside with the other 2 boats and I may redo the wood deck. Looking forward to meeting you at Tower.

I was always told that all Vdrives went over 100mph and all jets went less than 60mph. http://free.***boat.net/ubb/biggrin.gif

Est 800hp. power glide trans, casale (not sure on gears or prop size - 2 blade). A true daily dragster. never been on the gun, but goes faster than I can drive it.

obnoxious just described our typical, west coast ski race boat: turboed, 2 or 3 speed turbo 400 (modified), 38 to 50% overdrive,
11 1/2 X 15 two or three blade, and between 1,000 and 1,550 hp on race gas. These marathon boats will cruise all day long at near three digets. And EVERYTHING has to be polished (no chrome allowed).

That boat was owned by a guy named Barry. We Went by and saw it last year in the Keys and saw the most beautiful girl ever in a yellow string. 5 ft maybe 100 lbs not an ounce of fat, Just drop dead beautiful. I have to go now.

"Was Owned" being the key words. Troy and Jason Hooker own it now, the engine is still in my garage for sale. I think they have a 468 roller motor in it now, and the girl in yellow was drop dead gorgeous, maybe I sold the boat too soon!
I would be happy to answer serious inquiries about the engine.

Hey Barry, I am a friend of Mike P's. I had the yellow Daytona Daycruiser that you drove last year. Glad to see you on here. The yellow bikini girl left a lasting impression on you too. We were at the river with Mike 2 weeks ago. Should be going out to the ski races next weekend. Take it easy

Once again the true reason for boat ownership is revealed..... The fervent hope that someday a babe in floss will say "hey, can I have a ride?"

So far I've seen 94 mph with my 18'3" bubbledeck, but that was with the plates 3 notches down due to an overabundance of bow lift at higher speeds. I was turning 7400 rpm with 15% gears and a Kindsvater 10&7/8X16 prop. I've gotten it to set at neutral plate now but haven't put the speedometer on it to see how fast I was going @ 7900 rpm.I hope it's over 100 but I'll let you know when I confirm it.

Sangerboy, talk to me. I have a 18'6 Sanger true flat circle runner, it bounces like hell at any high speed, I'm running a blown 468 at 94 with the plate 2 notches down, what did you do to get it to run with a level plate. I'm driving the nose into the water and running wet. I have 22 gears and a 11.25 x 17 Menkens. Strut is 8 degrees, motor is fairly far back due to having back to back seats. Do I need weight forward, move the prop, what??

DJ- I did all kinds of things but just one at a time and even then it seemed like 3 steps forward 2 steps back with the changes I would make. The main things were 1)moving the engine forward 2) Moving the v-drive forward and replacing the 10 degree strut with a 61/2 degree strut 3) Moving the prop back and increasing prop diameter to 11 1/4". All of these things will decrease bow lift(or increase tail lift whichever you prefer) the trick is to find the right combination. My boat doesn't have much rocker especially compared to a Cole or Hondo drag hull so initially I thought it needed more bow lift but I was wrong. Once I actually started going in the right direction it settled down pretty quick.

Try moving the motor forward first. I had the same problem with my Hondo. By far, the biggest factor was where that heavy engine was balanced in the boat. It needs to come forward, how much I cant tell you, you will just have to experiment since it depends on the weight of your set-up. After you get close to perfect, the nickels in the collar is next. You could also have a bad hook in the bottom too. Even with an 8 degree strut you will find the balance point, it just wont get a few mph like a lower angle strut. Dont start cutting your rudder and skag unless you want to race only, I havent done it, but heard its not too good in rough water.

I have a biesemeyer 427 bored and stroked to 481, 8-71 blower about 8 lbs boost, 40 percent gears, 11 1/2X15 menkens prop run 7200 rpm on a bad day and 7600 rpm on a good day, Not sure how fast, but haven't had anyone keep up with me on Truman Lake in Missouri.

Infomaniac, I was at that race in Logansport, when Rusty ran the number, and as Paul Harvey say's, now for the rest of the story;,the boat crashed thru the lights and disintegrated, leaving debris that took an hour or so to cleanup, and flattie the answer to your question, would you drive it that fast, the answer is yes and always looking for another mph, that is why at the tender age of 58 I retired from PGF racing, as my ride ran consistently under 8 seconds at 140+ mph, and I came to the realization that old bones don't heal like young bones do.
FYI, look in reader rides at # 127 flatbottom

In my younger days I used to run a Beezer flat with a 8-71 blown 500" Chrysler, that would run about 120, but that's way too much excitement- almost died a couple times. Now I'm running a Sanger hydro with an unblown 468" Chevy. Still run close to 100 mph, but a nice solid ride. Us old (not too old) guys still like to go fast, but I'm not interested in killing myself any more.

heres mine, a 1991 Syndicate 7/8 Runner 472 Blown injected Alcohol bbc ran 132 in 700 ft. Made one test run a few days later and made about 1000 ft pass with the plate burried at 7900 rpm with a 11.0 x 17.5 stelings with 60's in the box. Boat # 757 and ran it at campfar west as well as the track. Dont beleive the #'s or the combo ask around at camp far about this boat. Named HULLSHOT #757 white and multiple fades, unfortunatly the boat is no longer around due to a crash that destroyed the boat. The motor went into my friends sanger hydro with a two speed with 60's in the box and made a real good pass in high gear spinning 8200 and a 11.5 x 17 clever. This boat is still around and runs very hard
