i want to polish my tunnel ram and a few other parts on my boat. i have heard of people spraying a clearcoat over parts after polishing them so it keeps the shine with alot less maintenance. anyone know what the best type of spray on clear coat is? or if its a good idea? i would hate to spray some crap on and have it turn yellow over time.

Powder Coating them clear is a decent option for that becuase it's pretty tough, but that is what turns yellow over time. If you want to save yourself some serious man hours on polishing, I'd look at powdercoating them "silver." A lot of powdercoating houses now have colors that they call "chrome" etc.. that are pretty close to the real deal without all the headaches. If it has to be polished, I'd ask JBB what automotive clear coat type paint he would use and go that route.

True, but 2 girls in bikinis with small hands, 2 very soft rags & 2 tubes of alum polish that wanna boat ride ain't bad either. Worked on getting motorcycle spokes polished back in the day. LOL
