We are beginning to make plans to attend the V-Drive Regatta at Parker July 31-Aug 1st. Can anyone who has attended in the past or anyone involved with the organization of the event this year shed some light on the event. For example, registration methods, benefits and cost of registration (i.e. room package? etc), you know; the whole lowdown. It also seems there is some confusion in the V-Drive community between this event and another one at the river in September. I'm thinking that if we can get better information now, it will boost the attendance and make it a more enjoyable event. Maybe we can also use this thread for a roll call on who's going as well.... http://free.***boat.net/ubb/smile.gif

Costello, I plan to attend and participate.(Donating product and maybe displaying some stuff) I didn't plan to take my boat. I have friends that have a place on the california side just up river from there. I will be staying at the casino. I think you can call the Havasu office of Hot Boat for info.(Darrin Davidson's office) I have to go just to see the CHEVY-FORD duel! Im sure glad TONY likes creating all this FUN! http://free.***boat.net/ubb/biggrin.gif

Costello, the event is just bitchen. Call NOW and get your hotel rooms if you havent already. I reserved mine in December. Just register by mail, when you get there the first day will just be showing up and hangin out. August 1st will probably be the whole day event. You WILL be woken up before sunrise (at the hotel) to the sound of a few flats making some hot laps. Happened both times already. Then the whole day is typically got more going on than you can do in one day. Tube races, poker run, sliding down the hill on an innertube with two of your buddies stacked on top and crashing into a kiddie pool, chillin out at the riverside bar and grill, trying to walk down the seemingly endless beach to look at all the v-drives but get hung up talking to boat owners, taking more pictures than you can afford to develop, going broke on the slots (just go for the dollar slots, you wont waste as much time gambling), acting like a child at the 3 story indoor pool with a nice slide, live music indoors and so-on http://free.***boat.net/ubb/biggrin.gif .Then you HAVE to hurry up and get to the dinner and awards/give away banquet. The food is awesome and the awards are the best. Warning, while you are in the awards banquet pay attention, you may get nailed by free shirts or hats being thrown around. Pay close attention to the numbers on your wrist bands, I won a set of stainless steel fenders last year and a set of Gaffrig guages the year before, and oh yeah, got third place in the poker run too the first year(DARN IT, I had three 6's and two 7's, got beat by three 7's and two 6's) The event is first class in my book and if you own a v-drive and dont show up it should be taken from you for a week..j/k.. http://free.***boat.net/ubb/biggrin.gif Anyways, I hope you go, you'll love it.
PS, whoever cut the 'no-wake' bouy chains the first year....well, you know http://free.***boat.net/ubb/biggrin.gif

Well the one two years ago was pretty fun.
The poker run was so fun. They were asking all the cruisers to take it easy and watch out for the hydros and flats with our wakes.
Yeah, ok We went up river and back pedal to the wood the entire way! WhooHoo! What a blast that was. The prizes for the poker run and the door prizes were freaking great! The guy next to me won an OJ prop that was sweet. I didn't get diddly but my wife got a blow up Budweiser lawn chair. I tried to trade the guy for the prop but lets say I brought home the chair.
I will try to make it but WTF with during the week? I think it will be better for the flats and hydros but I also think that will drastically hurt attendance.

I agree Dave that the during the week thing is a little "odd" to say the least. For me personally it works out great, as my wife has a class reunion in San Diego the weekend previous to the event so we'll just stay south until the event. For most people though, during the week will probably present a challenge. I've been busy here at the job, but I still intend to call and get the details and post them here.

COSTELLO,
Your Spectra 20 v-drive is back in the Boattrader for $7,500.00. It kind of funny the new ad for $7,500.00 is right above the old ad for $4,500.00.

Brent, I'll take the one listed above for $4500!!! http://free.***boat.net/ubb/biggrin.gif It's still not a bad deal at all for $7500, but I can't step up and be as ahead as I would have been for the earlier price. Someone should jump on it, hell the thing even has a somewhat modern color scheme. No "woodgrain" anyhow!!

This event offers nothing more than the September Redrock social except the opportunity to fork over $200 to ***boat or rather Jokers Wild (same people). I will probably arrive by water because the poker run prizes,t-shirt,copter shot, and meal are not worth $200 to me!

Brent,
the boat is for sale by the same owner for the new price? Haven't bought the trader this week (bought a boat yesterday) but if it's for sale by the same owner, that's just what I told Costello last week I thought was going to happen.
Don't feel so bad now about missing a good deal at 4500.

Has anyone seen this boat? I was wondering if it's worth a drive out for a look. Send me a mail if so.

I hear ya. If I was local I would do the same thing. But if I go all that way I think I would buck up for the poker run and the meal. Oh, the tee shirt was kinda cool too.
I have never been to the Red Rock deal but have heard lots about it. My boat better be done by then so I will (hopefully) be at that one with a running boat.

I havent been to the red rock thing but it sounds like a camping trip to me. I'm sure its great and I've heard a lot about it. The Blue Water Regatta is set-up as an event. Almost like a race but with activities instead of competition. It is centered around a hotel which makes things easier for guys with no camping gear. $200 is a lot of money, but after being at both it is well worth every penny. I was bummed they went for 2 years but oh well. I do think the middle of the week is going to drop attendance, but at least no broken boats on the poker run. The first years poker run just about sunk my flat, what a joke that was. The last year I did it on a jet-ski. I think its worth it by far.
My .02 cents

The Red Rock deal is a total blast, it is a week well spent, I know I'll be there!!.....

Yes, I would say it is worth $7,500.00 to the right guy. I paid $7,000.00 for a 24 Spectra XS with a twin turbo 454 complete and brand new interior & carpet.
Like Costello said, $6,000.00 not a penny more. I think thats what he will get for the boat.
THe old add & new add are on the same page. The guy probably got the Boattrader and said, "Oh Shit".
Good Luck,
Brent

Is there going to be a V-drive event at Big River this year? I see some sort of VDrive get together each September, is it official or an informal thing?

Ouch!!!!!!!
Sorry you're so bitter Backfire.
What would you like to see at the V-Drive Regatta that could make it worth your time? I am organizing thirteen Regattas this year, if I am doing something wrong I would be happy to make some adjustments. If you have any valid ideas give me a call.
By the way, Hot Boat is a sponsor of Jokers Wild.
Thank You

One Time, are you the guy in charge of this V-Drive Regatta? If so, please read the first post in this thread and respond. You will save me the phone call I can't seem to get to during the busy day. We need the lowdown here. Price, send money where, what's included, what's not, that type of thing. Thanks.

I keep thinking about the time Jim Wilkes charged us $680 to INSTALL C500 gears us. The $680 did not include the gears it was just $680 to install them. He said it would take him 3 hours. 680 divided by 3 = 227 dollars an hour. Oh by the way we handed him the v-drive. So my question is this, Did we get a hosed or is this a price that is standard among the industry as the C500 as not an easy unit to deal with? GS Marine called us after we had taken the V-drive to Wilkes and told us $350. John at JmMarine told us the same thing (after Wilkes had the V-drive).

I attended the previous 2 Bluewater regattas unregistered, but with the intention of registering if I felt the "organization" side of it offerred something I considered to be worth $200. I had a blast because I only intended to hang out, B.S., and take some pics for my website (www.v-driveboat.com) and I didn't miss any of the things you guys were providing!
Suggestions?:
Since you guys get most of the stuff as promotional items, perhaps you could make everyone's grab bag worth at least $200! Then I might be interested!
