I recently lost my engine cover (flew out the back of my truck and the boat ran it over!!) and now have the chance to have one custom made to my liking. The lid covers the whole back of the boat, so I have enough space to put whatever I want. What I am hoping for is either a fiberglass scoop built into the lid that mates with the carb through probably a carb plate, so when you lift the hatch the scoop comes up and you have just the carb ans spark arrestor on the engine, carb surrounded by the housing.
Or my other idea was to put a stainless scoop on the carb and have it just stick outside the cover, but stays on the engine when the lid is lifted.
WHat do you guys think and have anyof you done this before?? I have seen lots of pictures where this has been done but not talk about it. What type of scoop have you used? Harwood, if so drag scoop and what part numbers?? Pictures of set-up with lid down and up??
Thanks-

I have an offshore style of scoop at the shop that has been just sitting there for a couple years, if interested, call me up!

Hi Todd
Could you post a pic of the fiberglass scoop that you have? I am working on a 30 year old project jet boat and I have an engine hatch that will need a big hole covered up. What you have may work or I can give you the size I need and you can sell me a tunnel ram type scoop to install. You can see from by the pics what kind of scoop I need.
