Help I need some pictures of how a bucket type seat is made. I bought this 76 Schiada with know seats. I am going to build seats. However I have no clue how they are designed. Like im wondering how they make the curved part of the back. I can pretty much build about anything with patterns. Thanks

I used 1/2" ply for the base, then 3/8' ply for the back. My seats were straight backed, but I watched an upholster make them curved. He grooved the back on the inside so it would curve, attached it to the base, then used resin with matt cloth for strength.
Hope this will help give you an idea.

Dan, there is someone who manufactures the fibreglass buckets for flats, these should be very economical and I know they last forever, and the upholstery is a slip over cover, mine is pleated and rolled naugahyde, with a padded seat which slips into the bottom of the seat, may be that SuperDave will know where to get them, or you can post a wanted notice on parts swap on these forums.

I just bought a pair of bucket seats from a fellow in Canada. He did a very nice job on them and was reasonably priced. I recommend him highly. If you are interested I can give you his email address.

There are some pictures of over-sized fiberglass bare seat shells in AzDon's Ultimate V-Drive Store (http://vdrives.hypermart.net/). He sells the bare shells for $200/pair and he also tells me he's got a regular-sized pair with new blue covers and upholstery he'd sell for $125 each.

I wasn't going to mention the guy in Canada, but since someone already did, I think the shells are like $80 per piece if you actually can get them sent to you. Caveat Emptor.

I talked with him, but thats not what im looking for. These seats are for a Daycruiser not a flatty. I would just like to see how a regular seat is constructed. Are they made with like 2x4s and then covered with plywood? Someone must know?

The square daycruiser wrap-around buckets are easy! I got a pair that are made by Wise from Overton's. They are fully upholstered on rotationally-molded poly frames and are currently listed at $214 each. I sent several back before I got two that I was happy with, but they've been pretty durable.

Backfire.... are those seats from overtons fairly big? Im a big guy. I want something so that my ASS won't feel like it spent the night in a Tuna fish can......I have looked at those seats before. Thanks
