hey , to run in NJBA OR IHBA, you need a rope deflector, does anyone have a picture of how they mounted theirs, or where is the best place to mount one ?
thanks

You can go from the scoop to the drive shaft tube like Jetboatguru did here.

Or you can attachet to the scoop only like this guy.

socal, there is really no set way to install one, but I make mine so that it attached to the scoop on top and make a bracket that attached to the v-drive on the other end. I also use a couple of 3/16 pit pins so that we can take it off to do maintenance on the motor or v-drive. There is a picture of the boat on dragboats.com if you want to look at it, I will see if I can put it on here.

Whatever you do run it all the way down to the boat from the top of the scoop. One of the scoop mounted deflectors didnt work this weekend at Firebird and the rope went under the scoop, caught the rope and cut it. Also damaging the scoop mounts(repairable). Also make it heavy enough material that the (usually) tightly drawn rope doesnt break it and catch the scoop anyways.

Yeah, well us roundy-round guys have no idea when it comes to a holding rope. The only place they make us use one is at Firebird. The rope claimed two distributors and one scoop on the SS boats this past weekend. I might just have to install a deflector next time we run Firebird.
