lets hear about it..... the second time I took my boat out I was hangin out in the no wake zone waiting for my friends to come down from the parking lot, I noticed the exhaust was making less sound then when I first put it in the water... kind of weird... pulled the bilge pump switch and WHOOOOOSHHH!!! tons of water, and the boat had only been in the water for a min or two, oops, did I forget something, yes indeed, ran to the back of the boat and shoved the plug in, pulled the boat out of the water and let it drain and drain and drain and drain, 20 min later I was dry and ready for action !!

We took out my wife's aunts boat (a 19 mastercrap). The boat had not been run for quite some time and apparently the pre-water pump took a crap. This resulted in minimal water getting through the motor. We did notice the high temps and shut her down. However, the heat burnt a hole in the rubber water exhaust hose. Since the through transom exhaust was below the water line, water was gushing in so fast you could'nt believe it. Thankfully, Mastercraps are laid up with foam so it didn't sink. You had to be there to laugh your ass off when we pulled it out with the truck. Water gushed over the top of the transom and took at least an hour to drain.
Chalk another one up for checking rubber hoses, water pumps, and the like....

Had a old barron jet boat at about 30 mph I thru it in reverse the front end would bear down and the spray would cool us all down tried it at about 50mph the front went down like a torpedo the water came up the deck so fast almost washed me under the dash when I got back up the boat was about 2 inches from sinking!!!!!!

I got one that happened to a coworker of mine. Always someone else hehe. I’ll call him Jack. One day Jack took out his very wealthy father-in-laws brand new yacht for a spin and didn’t watch the weather forecast. Jack got caught in a severe thunderstorm off the New Jersey coast in the Atlantic. Jack radioed for help but the waves were just to big and the boat went under never to be seen again. Jack and his mates were rescued in the darkness by the coast guard several hours after going into the drink. They were suffering from hypothermia and had swallowed a lot of seawater. They were wearing PFD’s but couldn’t manage to get the life raft setup under the circumstances. So the rich father-in-law took his insurance money and bought a bigger yacht. Jack took the new one for a spin and one of the props came loose and ripped a huge hole in the bottom of the boat. And as they say.....the rest is history. As far as I know Jack is still loved by his in-laws.

Well we were down in Blythe towards the end of the last day having a good ole time and decided to go play around in the boat. I tell you what this thing was runnig good UNTIL!! we slowed down the motor just died. (?) What could this of been we thaught. Well a couple minutes later tried to start the boat it ran fine UNTIL we slowed again it died. This time we open the hatch to find that engine capartment is completley submerged in water up to the center of the block and when we would slow down it would get the egnition wet. Well to make a long story short it turns out one of the freeze plugs rotted away so all the water going into the motor was staying in the boat. I just don't understand why it ran so good with all the water in it???

Ive sank my old Glastron bowrider outboard. I was on a jet ski, and my friends were cruising around on the boat. They didn't realize that an access hole cover came off, and it was taking on a lot of water. We tried to bail, and use the bilge pump. There is a point to where the water comes in faster than it goes out, and we just gave up. I ended up gettting pumped out and towed to shore by the DNR. They gave me a $300 ticket for having a motor larger than recomended, saying that was the reason we sank.

Aww C'mon, nobody here would put a "larger than recommended" engine in a boat would they ? I bet yours came with the boat ...

It was a 17' bowrider with a USCG rating of 135 hp. The previous owner of the boat put on a 150 Black Max w/ a hydraulic jack plate and SS chopper prop. That boat would hit about 65 mph(with more to go) and start chine walking very bad. It was just a family boat with some sort of tri-hull/deep V setup, that was definatley not designed to push those speeds. I miss that boat, but I blew the motor up a week after sinking.

Sorry man thats a bad deal , I was wondering after my close call if a boat could be retrieved from 65 ft of water .

I have a slow leak at the intake. I always leave my auto bilge on and take care of the problem. If I don't have it on, I better not leave the boat in the water overnight or else it's gonna go under in hours. Well, one very late night of drinking (for jetboatguru: 1, 2, 3...) I forgot to turn on the bilge pump and in the morning when I woke up and realized it, I didn't want to look outside. I did anyway and you won't believe what else I forgot to do, move my boat out for when the water at Parker lowers. So, it was on the beach, with the bilge off. So I guess I can say it sank, in the sand that is.

This is about my old boat I no longer have. Once on my way to Havasu, I hit a ball and reciever on I-40 at night. Pulled over and looked as good as I could with a lighter and all looked well. Next day I checked the truck and the tires and they were fine so I forgot about it. Launched and made it down to Copper Canyon and then noticed the floor was getting wet. Opened the hatch and water was up to more than half the batteries. Fired the bildge pump and hugged the shore back. I entered the no wake zone wide open and a cop was on me in a flash. I told him I was taking on water and he escorted me back to the dock. He actually called ahead and had a golf cart waiting for me to take me to the truck and trailer. Got it out fine and crawled underneath. The hitch had flung up and put a 12" crack along the bottom of the hull. I was surprised at how helpful the cop was. Would have thanked him but he was gone when the boat was out. I wonder what happened to the dude that lost the reciever in the first place.

well, lesse if i can remember this.
about 25 years ago, i had my first jet - a 17' semi-v, 396, and a bayjet. i had a couple of wimmen in the boat, towing them around on a tube, not to far from the campground beach. they decide to trade places. one of them is on the tube, about 30' away from the boat, i'm behind the wheel, and i ask the other "is the rope clear from the boat"? of course, the reply is yes, the rope is clear. i then start the engine, go about 5', and kerchunk, instant stoppage.
knowing what happened, but never having experience this before (or since, knock knock on wood), we get the thing over to the beach. i wisely conclude that this is the reason they have clean out holes on the pump - to remove ropes and stuff. so, i pull out the trusty crescent wrench, and remove the hold down nuts. of course, being a bayjet, the cover has a plug underneath, and it won't clear the transom. wonderful. so, it needs to come out of the water. i go to tighten the handhole, and thanks to the swelled rope, it won't clamp. wonderful 2. but it's pretty tight??????? uh huh...
so, i find a friend to tow the thing about a mile to the outramp. i tell the ladies and the tower to give me 15 minutes to get over there before they start towing, and make sure the bilge pump is on. away i go.
so, i'm at the ramp, trailer in the water. i look out about 1/2 mile, and i can see the boat towing my boat. i can also see that ranger rick has pulled up alongside my boat, and is chatting up the wimmen, who are both blonde, and chatting right back. in the mean time, the stern of the boat is about 1" above the water, bilge pump pumping away, and i'm jumping up and down screaming on the ramp. of course they can't hear; they're being towed and chatted up by ranger rick. of course, this thing is tied so tight to the towboat that, if it goes down, it's taking mister towboat with it, and he's not paying much attention to that problem either. i forgot to mention, this was a very low profile boat, especially when it was sitting still, or sinking.
finally, after what seemed like days, they make it the 1/2 mile to the ramp, where the screaming jumping up and down guy is (me). i commence to run out into the water neck deep, grab the rope, and start pulling toward the trailer. ranger rick takes one look, and sez "looks like you got it under control", turns around and hauls ass leaving me under his wake. i'm clawing for ground, getting closer to the trailer. the blondes are wondering what has me all worked up, oblivious to the fact that their butts are about 4" below water level (we're at a lake, they're supposed to be wet).
i finally get it attached to the trailer, start breathing again, and get in the truck. the truck spins the tires all over the concrete, since the 17' boat now weighs about 6000lbs, with 4000lbs of water and two blondes added. i get out, lock the hubs, throw the thing in 4-wheel, and finally my beloved (1st) jet is free of that lake. i stop, pull the plug, and it drains for, i swear to god, 30 minutes. they say, "wow that's alotta water". i say "i guess, you'll hafta go sit in the lake to get your butts wet now.
lessons learned from this experience.
1. i have never asked anyone, ever again, if the rope is out from under the boat.
2. i wouldn't pull the handhole cover off, even if the pump was setback outside the boat (the pump might "think" it's in the boat, and throw water in that direction).
3. when i tow broke down prop boats (which occurs often) back to the marina/beach, i always keep a knife handy incase they're goin' down. i feel for ya dude, but not quite that much.
that's it; end o story..

sunk my jet outside of copper canyon 10 years ago.Got water in the fuel and made ot out.but just past the buoys it stalled would'nt start back up(backfired)and stalled.boat sits 4-6 inches in the back so rough water and low freeboard it took about 2 minutes to get enough water to go down.
a guy with a 41 ft scarab was near and they tied a rope and pulled the boat while the bow was still bobbing up and down.coast guard guy caught up and told him to stop and let it sink(an asshole too).he had to go and the scarab continued on and pulled it up again towed it a couple of miles then to shore boat was then turned over to get the water out(lots of helpers).
Got the boat back to where we were staying and a friend who was there was an auto mechanic he wanted to go out that night so he got to workin on the boat imediately and after draining tanks and oil changes it was back in the water that same night. The next day i saw one guy who was talking about a boat that sank he happened to be the one who bailed me out of the water after mine went down.I told him if this boat looked familiar he just about shit his pants he could not believe we were back in.

The Coast Guard wanted you to let the boat sink ?!!! The DNR pumped out cncr691's and fined him $300. The orange and white flat is being pumped by the DNR, Is it up to the local law man ? Would you leave a boat in the lake if you were in charge ? can you get one out of 100 ft ? can you find it ?

First time about 10 yrs ago. I had a v-drive with sb. Pulled bow first to shore, had way to much to drink and smoke. Was sitting back in lawn chair drinking and relaxing. The wind gradually picked up over a period of time, just keep on partying down. A couple of hours later my nephew came running up and told me the boat was sinking, water was nearly up to intake. Bilge pump running and a bunch of kids bailing water and finally get enough out to pull to ramp. Pulled plug and drained for an hour or maybe a six-pack. Second time about eight years ago I had a taylor ss jet. My black buddy and myself was out crusing, drinking and smoking, very much wasted at the time. Noticed the motor started missing, raised the hatch and alternator was throwing water everywhere.Had ruptured line coming from pump, when motor was running it was pumping water into boat. My buddy could not swim so he had a life jacket on every arm, leg and one one chest, was hollering were going to drown. Finally someone came along and pulled us in.

Great topic Hallett19,
I managed to sink my 18 ft 427 BBC Mandella v-drive right on the beach at Nacimiento. It was nosed into the beach and I was taking out a dead battery to charge with the truck (no bildge). I bumped off one of the thru transom exhaust hoses and water started coming in. Being the novice boater I was at the time, I figured it would just settle on the bottom (without sinking). Of course the water is always deeper than it looks. I panicked and tried to pull it up on the beach. The water level inside the boat kept rising and pulling it further into the lake and I finally figured I needed another plan of attack or it was going to go under completely. I finally did what I should have done immediately, stuff a towel in the outside of the exhaust flare. By that time, the water was up to the carb, and the seats were all floating around. Some guys on the beach helped me roll the thing on its side to empty most of the water, then I bailed the rest out. After charging the battery and making sure there wasn't any water in the cylinders, I tried starting it, and it fired right up. It did have Bailey's oil though, so I had to do multiple oil changes to get it cleaned out. It saw fine after that episode. Live and learn. Tim

This is how I got my first pickelfork...
I had gone and seen this really cherry 1979 Brendella pickelfork (Worst handling boat ever) when I was in the market. The guy wanted too much for it, but I was trying to sell a bitchin old Scout I had built and I wanted too much for it also. Bottom line was, he had an alternator problem, but refused to acknowledge it. In addition, and as anyone familiar with the Brendella can attest, this thing is WAY low slung. So much so that the middle of the boat had about 2" of freeboard and the rear had these little fin looking things like the bat boat that were actually awash while sitting in calm water. This guy went out and drove it on Memorial Day weekend two years ago in Yuma, and I guess it was pretty rough. After running the worlds burliest bilge pump for an hour along with a seriously high output ignition the boat finally decided to quit running because of no juice. Now he needs to float back to the camp (4 miles away). Oh, wait, we seem to be taking on water... why is the bilge pump running so slow? WHY IS THE BILGE PUMP STOPPED!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHH BOATS EVERYWHERE!!!! SLOW DOWN! SLOW DOWN!
Then it went under... and dragged on the bottom of the colorado river nose up for a couple of more miles. Cool thing about a self bailing pickelfork though, once they got moving with a tow... it popped right up and started loosing water.
Get it on the trailer, give me a call from the river saying he would be happy to trade me for the Scout now, and how does a couple grand cash sound.
Four oil changes, diesel washing, new MSD, new carpet and a hard steaming run later... Boat ran great!

Last year I was jetskiing on my favorite river and hit a large log barely under water at about 50mph. I went through my handpole (it was a stand up) and the log ripped the ride plate and pump right out of the ski. When I was able to breath again, I realized my ski was sinkin', I grabed my rope and hooked it through the eyelet. It sank in a couple minutes. The real prob was my rope was only about 12' long and the river was more than 12' deep. I was treadin' water to beat hell while holding on to the ski. After a couple of minutes some people on a 30'+ SeaRay stopped to tell me I shouldn't be swimming in the middle of a busy river. I explained I was holding on to my ride and they offered me a tow to the nearest ramp. That thing bounced near the bottom all the way back. They were real nice, made me lunch and got me way loaded on the ride to the ramp, I even ended up dating one of the girls for a short bit. Only the motor and a couple other things were able to be salvaged from the ski. I guess all that foam was in the hull for a reason...knew I shouldn't have removed it for weight reduction!

When I was a kid the family had a mean machine.....a 1974 19' Glastron Tri Hull Bowrider..... Puke Green over a white base. The boat, although ugly never gave us any problems at all. We had the astro turf type carpeting replaced in it one year and when we picked it up it looked great. Decided to put it in the water one evening and noticed that it was sort of leaning to one side. Thought nothing of it and took it over to the slips at the LHC Marina, tied it up for the night and went home. Next morning as we are walking down the dock with all our gear, we notice that it is sitting a little low in the water. Get up close, a water was all over the floor board. Pulled the engine cover and water was about 1/4" below the dip stick. To make a long story short, the dock held it up and kept it from sinking, the bildge pump and some buckets bailed it out and we got it back on the trailer so that we could patch the hole left in the bottom by the carpet people.

About 8 years ago,me and a bunch buddies and their families went on a weekend outing. 1 guy brought his only boat-a 14ft aluminum with a 9.5hp eggbeater to fish out of and skrew around. He never let his 2 brats near his boat because "something might get brook". He had no problems with those brats climbing all over my ride though. I got up early to make an ice run and my battery was dead. The little bastards left the bilge pump on. Time for revenge. I unhooked his outboard and hid it in the bushes. Then I pulled his drainplug and watched her go. It sank right down to the gunnels. I set the engine cover where the motor should have been. He woke up to his kids trying to bail it out. Thinking his kids ****ed something up he told them to keep bailing and went back to sleep. Asshole. I let the kids bail long enough for their arms to hurt and told them what I did. When he woke up again, his boat was 100yds offshore upside down. We converted it into a jump for the tube and wakeboard. I told him if he didn't have fun with it, I wouldn't tell him where his motor was! Jethro

I guess I will confess as well, maybe I'll feel better. Incident #1. 1968 Sanger flat was taking on quite a bit of water. So my wife gives me one of our camp pans to bail out with. I got her all cleaned out, only to find it pretty full of water again an hour later. I took it out for a spin to evacuate all of the water out of the flapper drains. When I came back and anchored it, there was a distinct gurgling sound. One of the strut bolts had broke and was seeping water in before, except after the "spin" the bolt came out and was letting it in at a much faster rate. "No Prob" I'm on the case right? Disconnect the inlet to the water pump and put it down in the bilge to keep it clean on the way to the trailer and outramp. Then I vice grip the pickup hose shot. Gonna work like a champ!! It did,..... until the vice grips popped off, and I had a 3/4" force fed hose pumping water into the boat. If the ramp was 50 feet further we would have sunk, as all of my electrical stuff was getting soaked and crapping out. Incident #2....(short one) Shaking down the new motor in my Hondo hydro and cruising along just fine at 75-80 and still pulling when.....WHACK!!! "WTF? I just locked up my new motor" (almost up on the deck as well http://free.***boat.net/ubb/biggrin.gif). I look back and see the propshaft missing. "Cool the motor is fine, http://free.***boat.net/ubb/smile.gif OH SHIT I'M SINKING!!" http://free.***boat.net/ubb/frown.gif Johhny Jetboat who had been trying to keep up with me was very helpful in getting another boat to come over, while Johhny abandoned said jetboat to tie me up to the other boat, which proceeded to haul ass towing me to my waiting trailer. Once we were moving and got the hull up packing a little air, she stopped taking on water, but it was VERY near sinking, which isn't hard to do in a hydro.

When I was a youngen we used to camp at lake powell. Had this spot ina little cove. Anyway, one night a storm had kicked up, and we heard the waves getting bigger. So we get up. No sooner than we get up our Hondo Flat had taken a wave off of the side of the hill. Running to the boat to pull her to shore wave #2 hits. As my dad and his buddy hold up his hydro and me being 12 holding on to the flat, #3 hits. Now she is just about under and my dad runs to help me pull it onshore. #4 hit and she sinks on the beach. Next day and $800 she floats again. Next night dad and I take the flat around in this cove for the night and dad beaches it for the night. We wake up a few hour later to the some strange sound.. Dad looks out and then say go back to sleep. She sank again because water came in through the hole for the bilge. #800 ans she was floating again. Very expensive camping trip.

Bought a new 18' 98 Biesemeyer, took it for a drive and it ran good. Next day my buddy and I took it to the lake, sputtered alittle after start up. I didnt think much of it. did a loop around the front part of the lake then the motor stopped. I was now in the middle of the lake. I got up to check to see if anything was wet. looked at my buddy Mark and Started yelling START THE BOAT-START THE BOAT. I jumpped in the seat turned the key and nothing. The wake from a couple of tri hulls racing caught up with my back end. First day out with no insurance. Never got the #s of the White & brown tri hulls. But we both are alive . I was about 15 years old and had met a friend up on Clear Lake that had access to a boat. It was his uncles. He basically said that we could use it and to be careful since he really hadn't used it much in the previous years. Replace the dead battery, top off the oil, and fresh gas, we were good to go. Two 15 year old kids in a boat that built in the mid 60's. This was a small 17'er or so baby blue, you know the kind, with the white seats and the cracked white steering wheel and a little 4 banger I/O. Anyway, my grandparents have a place on the other side of the lake about a 20 min ride. Everything was great at first, but halfway across, I notice that we have a smoke trail coming out of the water. Well, hells bells, that can only be coming from one place... the exhaust. Screw it!!! Run it!! We make it to my grandparents place, tie off for a lunch break and leave. Get out past the 5mph zone and gun it. This time there is a lot more smoke. Need to find us??? Just follow our trail. We start heading for a big resort with a repair facility around a point thats about 15 more minutes away. About 5 minutes out, the engine stalls. After several attempts at starting it, it backfires, with a big bang. That was enough to blow out the rotted exhaust boots. There isn't a bilge pump big enough to pump out the incoming water fast enough. The bilge flooded in a matter of seconds and kept on coming. A guy with his family stopped by and said "Hey, you're taking on water". NO SHIT SHERLOCK!!!! By now the seats are floating inside the hull. He tows our bucket to the resort and in a lame attempt to save it, we tie it off to the dock. By the time we had a trailer available, the dock is about to go under. We had a hell of a time trying to get it onto the trailer. I'm guessing there was flotation in the hull, but as old as the boat was, it wasn't much good. We had all the crap that was inside the boat, floating all over the marina.

Well, not the boat but the trailer. At Apache Lake 2 years ago. We take the trailers off the trucks, attach a wheel to the trailer to winch the boat/trailers in and out during the day. Well, the water line was down and the winch cable wouldnt reach from the motorhome. Seemed like pretty flat ground so we disconnected the cable and rolled it to the water. Got the boat off and went skiing. Upon returning, I always line up the nose between the fenders on approach...except I couldnt see the fenders this time. Got to the place where the trailer was, and sure enough, no trailer. Ended up rolling on down the 'rest' of the hill under water. Finally found it in about 20 feet down and 75 feet off shore. Almost busted my eardrums diving down to get a rope hooked up to pull it back out.

Well I hate to admit it but, one time we took my 78 Century to the lake. I backed it in the water. I unhooked the front of the boat. I give it a push and it won't budge. Im like WTF. So I back in a little farther. Still it won't move. So now I back in up-to the back bumper on my pick-up. I walk out in the water to find my traler is still fastened to the back of my boat by those nice tie down straps. The trailer is like three feet of the bottom. DUH.......

Last summer I back my Stevens in the water at my favorite private boat lauch on the Susqahana river. Now Im pretty much in the middle of know where. I go for a nice boat ride. I come back and put my boat back on the trailer. I get in my pick-up. I go to start it and all it does is just turn over and over. I try everything I can think of.
So now Im standing on the side of the road trying to flag down a car to give me a ride to a phone. The dam fuel pump in the tank took a shit.
I got my buddy to come and pull my truck and boat out. As we got to the road he says where are you going to leave the boat? So I said hell just towe the hole thing. We got some strange looks on the way home pulling my pick-up with my boat behind that.

The old man is famous for this kind of Shit!!! We go to the lake for the first time of the season. We put the boat in the water. My dad trys to start it. The battery is dead. So he takes the battery out of our Suburban. No problem the boat starts up.
So off we go. We go about 15 miles up the lake. As we are getting fairly close to the destination the boat starts slowing down. Next thing you know the lower unit locks up solid. So we get towed into shore.
Now the old man thinks shit I have the battery out of the truck!!!! So he hitch hikes back to the truck with the battery in tow. Some guy stopped and said I have got to hear this story!!!! [imghttp://www.plauder-smilies.com/jump.gif[/img]

A long time ago I bought my first inboard. It was a 16' 1958 Century Resorter with a 116hp 6 cyl Gray Marine engine. It had been neglected, needed refinishing (wooden boat), and had spent the winter (Michigan) outside with a rotten tarp covering it. Bought it cheap ($500). Figured that before I start restoration, I should take it for a ride and check out the motor and trans. Took my dad along for the ride. I had already had the motor running in the driveway so we put the boat in the lake and went for a ride. Boat ran good. Planed out at about 30 mph. We were about a mile away when I decided to turn and head back. As I'm making this big wide turn, I notice I'm losing speed. As the boat is coming off plane I look around for traffic. Oh shit, the back seat cushions are floating. I head for the beach and made it to shallow water before it sank. Pulled the engine cover and saw the motor(still running) with water everywhere. The v-belt was throwing water all over. Got lucky. I had installed a good bildge pump a few days before and it was pumping out a little faster than it was coming in. We hugged the shoreline and made it back.
It turned out that the boat had water in it while it sat outside in the winter. This boat had side ribs and bottom ribs. They were connected at the chine with triangle shaped pieces of wood held with brass screws. The water froze, the ice expanded and broke most of the brass screws holding the bottom to the chine. The more the hull flexed, the looser it got. Didn't sink but got real close.

OK so I just had to get in on this one. I had a Sanger flat that had just come back from Gary Baca for paint and needed to be put back together and I lost interest in it so I sold it to my bro's friend. Call him Dave. I also had a 19 mini jet and my bro's other friend, call him Jeff, wanted it so I sold it to him less motor. So they're both bustin but to get these things done for memorial at the river. So Sat. morning Jeff is out playin with his new jet boat and decides to balst towards shore and roost everybody. Now he decides he's comin in to hot and lets off the gas and turns the wheel. The Sanger is sittin there and dDave and my bro are still workin on it cause its not quite done with the electrical. So they see this jet comin at them and bail just in time and the jet hits the flat and splits the seam and comes to a stop with the nose of the jet on the block of the flat. But nether boat sank (yet) because the flat was on the trailer in the camp ground! Needless to say some other things happened that belong on another forum, but they drug the jet back in the water and he sank it later that day at the gas dock when he left his friend to watch it while he went inside to pay for his gas. This happened on Memorial weekend and I haven't been back to the river on this weekend since. Lets be careful out there!

I got by brand spankin new boat last year and I was at San Vicente one morning wakeboarding with my girlfriend and buddy. Someone was not paying attention and the rope got sucked in the jet, no problem though we caught it in time and we were able to get it pulled out without pulling off the cover. I had an extra rope so we were still good, I pull my friend and then it's my turn to go. I am sitting in the water behind the boat and just when I am ready to go the auto bilge goes on, at the same time my 'personal' bilge pump fires up. So of course we waited for a while until I was ready to go. Just before we are ready to take off i realize that the bilge out the boat is still pumping water. I decide to get back in the boat and see what the hell is going on, open the engine hatch and the engine compartment is half full of water. What happened was the ski rope got wrapped around the plug handle and yanked out the plug when it got sucked in the jet. I had my buddy hop off the back of the boat, hang on the swim step and put his big toe over the plug hole until the water emptied out. He hopped in the boat and we made it back in time. What't the moral of the story.........
Carry extra plugs.
