I'm new to the boating scene. Last year I bought A 21' Sea Ray with A 235omc (351 ford). I purchased the boat for A song, if anyone has owned an old omc outdrive you know why! Anyway I did A little work to the engine, and got A bigger prop, now the old tub will run 50mph. :p The outdrive doesn't like the new horses very much(I broke two last year)! :(
I'm in the process of looking for A new boat in the 24-27 foot range 10k-18k range. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I would like to run A true 75mph.
Thanks in advance...

P.S. I run on lake Shelbyville

HHHHMMMMMMMM!!!!What part of Illinois you from , where in Canton (just southwest of Peoria).
Boat on the illinois usually south of peoria locks.
What year is youre omc drive? Cobra? I know since its a 351 it wouldnt be a KING COBRA.I have two MACH-1's both with king cobras that have been very good !
My 1986 2350 Ive had since 1994 and had a couple different motors in it and never had a drive failure. It has a 475 hp big block FORD in it now.Had the lower apart last year to put a new prop shaft in it (got bent  )and it still looked new.
My other boat we bought last year is a 1988 MACH-1 itr has twin 460 FORDS w king cobras , had to go through one drive in july due to a sunkin bouy.
Do you get the impression I really like king cobras ?
BTW my 86 2350 is for sale at the bottom of youre price range.Have well over half that in the motor bay alone , heres some pics

Did you ever get the new boat home? I was in your neck of the woods Sat. night, drank a little to much at Freddies.

On my way tomorrow!! damn it's going to be a long winter. I have to be there on fri. to do the deal in Hudson NH then leave it there head down to Springfield Ma to do a O2 sensor class on sun. Then head back up there to hook it up and head home. Was going to do this over the new year but I worked a deal with my company to pay my way out there and back, sooo....

I don't want to hear about the long winter thing, it's killing me already. You can't beat having the Co. pay for your trip. I think it cost my wife and I about $1,700.00 when it was all said and done. (airfare, U-Haul, gas, hotel,...) Come on Spring!

I hear ya on the cost. Something you dont always add into account when your look at these things. Was out with the kids on redhead lake skating. I have two Girls that a nut about skating and playing hockey. Right now the two of them keep my week/weekends full and my mind off the boat or i would be going nuts by now. I spend about 4-6 nites a week at the Ice house.
