Okay, here is the information I've been able to put together. August 3 & 4 are the dates for the Performance Boat Get Together on the Susquehanna Flats. All performance boats are welcome. There is plenty of water for everyone. We have found lodging in North East, Maryland at the Crystal Inn at exit 100 on I-95, South on RT 272. Their number is 800-631-3803. Tell them you are with the Havre de Grace Get Together 2002 for special discounted group rates of $79 plus 5% tax. This includes free continental breakfast, kids stay free, indoor pool and fitness room. A family restaurant joins the hotel. Plenty of trailer parking and fueling on site. Reserve early to lock in the room, as July 2nd is the release date for the special pricing and we need at least 10 rooms booked to get this rate ($129 regular which is rediculous). We have boats to feed!!
Friday evening we would like to gather at the Nauti Goose Saloon in North East, which features waterfront outside deck seating, plenty to eat and drink. It is located next to Anchor Marina where you will be launching your boat. The launch fee is $8, and they have parking for 120 boats. There are also slips blocked for the Nauti Goose if you would like to come by boat. The Nauti Goose and Anchor Marina are located on RT 272 in the town of North East, Maryland. We will provide maps to interested parties to the Susquehanna Flats at Friday evening get together or just ask a local.
The Susquehanna Flats is a very large sand bar used by many boaters and their families on summer weekends. A good time will be had by all.
Bob & Melisa
If you have any questions, feel free to email us.

All right 737+ Melisa...Ya hammered that stake in the ground!... You were on that quicker than Bass Cop to a plate of Muddy Spuds!
I'm in for sure...(attention), for those who saw the video tape...this is the same sand bar and water way as 737 is talking about...nice (CLEAN SAND BOTTOM) No Salt! no mudd or clay. And it's a GREAT place to hang out for a couple days...also there are many quiet coves local to the sand bar where we could do lets say...some speed passes.
I'm sure that after the GREAT TIME we had at Lake Anna this event will also give us something to look foward to in August...I know I can't wait to meet and greet again all the new (good) friends I've made at the Anna event...Don't delay, get your room's...I'm sure this will be a real blast....spred the word...Another great East Coast Happening!

I forgot to pull mine out last weekend. I hope I can get those little bastards out. I'm going jeetting tomorrow and I'll be damned if you think I'm running muffs. Unless of course they're rusted in there. http://free.***boat.net/ubb/frown.gif

Many don't use baffles...sometimes I don't.
Tim I belive ya saw the video...the rough part is where the two chanels come together, and sometimes that's not bad at all. If by a small chance the water may be chopy and that could happen anywhere...we will be going over to one of the many beach'd coves. The sand bar is a really cool place to be just before the sun goes down. And if we hit it a low tide it will even be better...come to think of it I'll check my tide chart tomorrow and then post how the water will be.

I'm looking at the tide chart...on Saturday low tide appears to be 1:45 pm . Thats perfect for hanging around the sand bar...the water will be anywhere from a knee deep, to the sand bar being exposed. Now dont worry, ya can ancore in deeper water if ya have a V-Drive or I.O. And remember it's all clean sand bottom! Weather permiting we'll have a good time.
Don't forget...we need to lockin 10 rooms to get the discount rate...I belive were there all ready.

Well guess what I did today ?? I blew her up. I was out messing around today and I turned around and water and oil was going everywhere. Stopped the boat and there was milk everywhere If I had been up in Maine I would have had Ice Cream. Well shit!!
To make matters worse I was docking the boat and the tide was rather strong, so I killed the engine and tryed to grad a holt of the dock, and I get pulled in the ****ing water I was soooo pissed. So I got back in the boat, and got her tied up to the dock I was socking wet. What a day and the park I was at was full of people saying do it again. Ass holes. Did I mention that my problem is just a blown intake gasket.. It will be ready too go tomorrow. See ya at Harve de Grace...

His skin is SO tough that he can handle the extreme temps of a BBC rocker valley. He's seen a big block work from the inside! Ray, was he the one that told you your motor was doing just fine? Being so small, and getting into places like that, makes him the tuner from hell. We call him Froggy Leonard.

"Hey There!" Just found this site, AWESOME!!!
I'm new to the hot boat scene (just bought my first boat) and new to the Chesapeake Bay. I'd love to get together at the boat G2G so...
Will my boat fare well in the bay type conditions and with the other boats or should I avoid?
1977 15' Hydrostream Viper 115hp (I also need advice on going faster)
I've used it in the river and in the Rehoboth Bay so far with out to much problem. It certainly doesn't like a lot of chop but on my travels over the Bay Bridge conditions close to shore look to be similar if not better in then in the Rehoboth Bay.
Are newbies and their wives welcome and what should I be prepared for?
Another hobbie started and it may take over as the my only hobbie.
Thanks in advance,

Hey Herb: If your asking about Havre de Grace in Aug, the water is sometimes choppy depending on wind conditions or heavy boat traffic. Your Hydro-Stream should be just fine on the flats .If you plan on attending bring 2 hooks to keep the boat from swinging.Last Sunday boats were packed 2 & 3 deep on the sandbar. As far as going faster ,HorsePower is speed!!! You will need more!!! Bob

If I may add to the wise words of the extravagant Mr.737, Money=HoresPower=Speed...And ya will need lots of it(money that is)...He, (Mr.737) dosent have issues, or lack there of, with any of them, ... And one more thing...the Baby Dolls were 3 rows deep! Not just the boats. And also there was a Hydro down there last Sunday looking for someone to play with!

Hmmmmm, well i figured since i was posting in the thread about Havre de Grace in Aug you all would have known what i was talking about... you guys may be spending to much time in the sun, hehe.
And yes G2G means get-to-gether, i've been chatting online with the youngster car crowd a little to much. I'm picking up the y generation lingo, sorry.
So the flats are the place to be on the weekends? I was thinking of tryin the Essex area which is the closest point to me driving wise to put the boat in. If further north is a better local I'll be down this weekend possibly. Anyone here heading there this weekend or on a regular weekend basis?
As far as the bay goes where are the best places to put in at and where should i head once in the water?
As far as money=HP=speed, i seem to spend way to much (according to the wife) on all of my transportation options (motorcycles, hot rods, and now boats) so just need some direction on the next outboard purchase.
I'll see you all in Aug if not sooner, thanks for the info and minor abuse.
How do i find you guys once there in Aug or any weekend? I'll be making a buch of day trips.

Hey Herb, I feel the upper bay water is much nicer and alot cleaner than the lower area. A good place to launch is at HavredeGrace park.Exit 89 off I95 Route 155 will take you into downtown HGR.Follow the signs for the hospital and your within a couple hundred yards of the water. The sandbar is about 1mile across the large body of water directly after you exit the marina.Be sure you stay on the shore line that is the channel.Just ask someone at the marina and they should be able to help you find your way. Iam there most weekends in a 21 liberator with 2.5 offshore hanging off the back. Bob

Yo.....Hammer just got back from Northeast, MD. and ya I'm sorry we missed you .....not even planning to go there but just happen to be close. We checked out the Hotel......its cool but parking could be an issue. Went down to the ramp, after getting directions from you, it'll defintly work for us , plenty of parking and people paying attenion to whats going on......thats a good thing. There's going to be a lot of shuttling around, if you know what I mean. Didn't take the boat.....kind of did a site visit, to check out facilities. I hope to get up there before the event.....heard alot about the Flats from the locals......Downtown has a pretty cool Historic District, shops for the ladies and plenty of Pubs for the Guys.

I spoke to the manager today, and told her we MAY have some issues with parking....hope that did'nt do any damage! She seemed cool with it and hoped to even block off a large area for tow units and trailers.
As a last resort YES there are other motel types, not but a mile or two on rout 40...Don't know the names though.

PS. I'm waiting for a case of AMSOIL to come in. I am going to try that since the syn-blend (10-40) isn't holding up too well with the warmer water temps. I don't know what the temp is at Havre, but we're running about 82 here now and I need to keep that oil pressure up and the oil breakdown to a minimum.

Hey Wet...I would only go with the 20/50 Syn. Or a 40 wt. I still think Kendall is one of the best non syn. oils on the market...Mobil 1 for syn. hands down.
I've always used straght 40/wt Kendall...But this season after speeking to a Kendall Rep. He talked me into there newley reformulated 20/50...oil. He also said the 40/wt. or 50wt. would be preferd only if I was to run the motor in an off shore type envirement. So far the 20/50 is holding strong.

Hey HD
So funny u mention'd oil, I have noticed with the warmer water temp here that i was running a lower oil pressure with the 10/40 and my engine builder told me to switch to 20/50 or run a straight weight, but he said go 20/50 first. I will know how it works hopefully b4 HDG.Hope all is well !!

Looks like we have another Blown Daytona showing up at Harve de Grace, Hot-Rod and I went out yesterday on his maiden voyage. We covered about 30 miles of river at least. The Mrs decided to go water skiing and she was really cutting it up good and took a good spill that landed her in the Emergency Room later that night. She ended up with 7 stitchs in her chin......oooch. But even with the gash, she decided to continue skiing any ways. Thanx to the Hot-Rods for having a First Aid kit on board, we patched her after skiing, until we got home.

Lets hope we have some great weather!!! Working on a map around the area we will be running so everyone knows where not to go. I'll give them to everyone at the hotel. Bob

I plan on being ready to leave by 7:30 or 8 on Aug 2 for HDG. BTW I have a blue & silver jet and met you & BlondBomber at Magruders back when he was having MSD ignition problems. Friday 2'nd......High Tide 6:00am
Low Tide 12:30pm
High Tide 6:30pm
Low tide 11:40pm
Saturday 3'rd....High Tide 7:00am
Low Tide 1:45pm

Low Tide 12:20pm
Sunday 4'th......High Tide 7:53am
Low Tide 2:50pm
High Tide 7:15pm
Low Tide 1:15am
Or there abouts!
*At high Tide the water can be anywere from knee deep to just above your wast...depending where ya want to be standing!
*Low tide may be knee deep to zero! Then again it depends where ya want to be...anchor closer to the drop off and the water's deeper.
The Sand Bar is MASSIVE, and I mean MASSIVE...don't worry, you'r not going to hit it, or get stuck on it...you'll see how and where all the boats anchor off when ya get there!

Hey Hammer,
Missed you at the Flats yesterday! Took a chance and made the trip to 737's house in the rain. Cleared up by 9 am. After a couple hours of boat clean-up (wash and wax), we were in the water by 1 pm. Again, a great day at the Flats with 737 and his two little girls! Plenty of boats and mermaids as usual! The water was the clearest I have seen all year. Should be the same for this weekend.
I plan on traveling to Maryland on Thursday to help "737" and "louie" prepare for the event (ex. set up the volleyball net, consume beverages and etc.)
See you this weekend!

When I got home I took out the block drains and did a back flush to push out the rest of the sand, and it was fine.

One other thing ya could do if ya want...pop out one or two freez plugs. Then you'll really see the shit come out!
If ya go after the easy access plugs it's not that hard. Just make sure ya put BRASS plugs back in and coat them with Hi-Tack Sealent. And ya could use a small wire wheel to clean up the area for the new plug...nice and dry when it goes back in.
I've done that job for my brothers 455 when his stock plugs rusted thru.

Yesterday I spoke with Garnett Parker at the Hotel and the parking for the trailers will be blocked in front of Hotel. I plan on getting there early to set up the parking area, just look for the checkered flag streamers. I also spoke with the marina manager (Ed) in regards to the $8 launch fee and he said that if someone needs to pull a boat out, they will not re-charge you the launch fee. It looks like there is tons of parking at the marina and he suggested that we launch early on Saturday and Sunday to avoid the high frequency of boats being launched from the high and dry fork lifts. To anyone bringing children, the Nauti Goose is a family restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating on the water and located directly next to the marina. Their food is great and they have a seafood buffet everynight. They also have a full menu including light fare and a kids menu. A full bar also!!! As of today, the weather looks good, high in the 90's, slight chance of isolated showers on Friday and Sunday, but that could and probably will change. On Friday when we launch, we will escort everyone to the sand bar. The sand bar area is very large and a channel must be followed.Volley ball net will be located in shallow area and will have American flags attached to poles. See you all on friday!!!! Bob

Is it Friday yet? I'm pathetic - I may do a test run tomorrow to the hotel and check things out (ditchin work for a few hours). I am really looking forward to meeting everyone. See ya Friday. If I arrive later Friday how do I get to the flats and how long are you guys going to be out there?

Herb, I belive 737Jetmech (Bob) is going to have some map's made up showing how to get to the Sand Bar from the Marina, I belive we'll leave them at the front desk, at the motel, but if not anyone at the Marina (Anchor Marina), down the road from the Motel will point ya in the right direction...Its not hard at all. About 3 miles? on the water.

I will be heading up to Harve de Grace by water, I'm staying a Fairlee Creek Saturday night. After I get to Harve de Grace where will I find the flats? I would like to see all your boats but I hate not knowing where I'm going.
Any Help?
Thanks Tom

the water is warmer here than it is up in Maine, baffles who cares mine will be in the boat just setting there, quit asking so many questions and come on down....
