My boat leaks at the hull deck joint. I would like to remove my rubrail and glass it solidly together. But I would like to install a new beefier rubrail afterwards without violating the integrity of the now watertight hull with a bunch of new screw penetrations. It is way too much hassle to try and glass the inside of the hull so I am stuck doing everything on the extierior.
I have thought of various possible solutions,
building up a thick glass belt below the rubrail
glassing in strip of metal to tap for fasteners
glassing in a strip of plastic as backing for screws
etc. etc. etc.
Anybody have any input on a clean installation? I'm not scared to do a little grinding and glassing.
