oh and just cuzz im alittle excited. I will have dyno results by tomorrow night im told. ran motor a little today, reseting the carbs and adding fuel pressure gauge, then tomorrow the dyno pulls , they didnt like my 15 psi of fuel pressure much i guess, lol.
I told you so on the fuel pressure. :D Let us know how the dyno session goes. I'm going to go out on a limb and guess 1025 peak hp at 6,000 RPM at 8 lbs. boost on 91 octane fuel. Let me know how close I am.

ill be happy if your close. I want to see the torque numbers also

New hp 1000 carbs going on, your real close Keith

right on.. I wanna see the dyno sheet and also go for a ride..
the break in on a new motor is through the 5 zone. Havent ever had a new drive and new motor at the same time..
Well whats the verdict??

I laugh at your 12 psi, it doesn;t hurt anything. there is no boost referencing on the carbs. there was no blow by at idle either. Show me one area on the dyno that is affected by 12 psi. I run 1 electric pump and at idle it is exactly 6psi and the motor idles at 700 rpm in gear under load, I will then turn on the second pump which bumps it to 12 psi and the idle never changes no mater how long it runs.
I still dont have my drive and am very pissed now. I cant get a straight awnswer either. Anyone know of a imco SC for sale with 1.25 gears????/ :lightsabe :boxingguy

Pretty close Keith. however mine was at 7 lbs. boost made 994 hp at 6000 rpm and 970 torque at 4300 rpms. with race gas at 11 lbs boost it made 1072 hp at 6000 rpm and 1101 torque at 4300 rpms. im leaving this weekend to get it and hope to be back and boating with you at berryessa over labor day.
Im anxious to see how it pulls threw low and mid range. The torque numbers are very impresive imo. we will see soom enough. but now I will be afraid to gas it for fear the drive will go, or I guess its just when. I second Hulshots question, see if we can get a deal if we buy 2 Don.

This is probably a silly question. Have you ever thought about going with a surface drive like an arneson or MSA Marine systems? Probably have the same issues as with a #6 like needing a motor relocate/transmission, but you guys are talking about a lot of HP/$. I'm not sure if the surface drives work well in a sinle engine cat or if they come out of the whole fast. I know it would be unique and from what I understand they are bullet proof and draft less water. Just a thought-Auminum Squirt

Congratulations on the nice dyno numbers Ken. I think I would have been pretty close at 1025 at 8 psi boost if he had the pulleys to pull it with that boost level. I think you are right that you better start looking for a spare drive. :D
Aluminum Squirt, yes I have thought about an Arneson drive and have talked to them about it. But their standard Bravo conversion drive is only rated at 1,000 hp. Their next size bigger drive will handle more power but they don't have a Bravo conversion yet for that drive and it's really spendy. It's probably in the neighborhood of what a #6 drive costs and I think the motor would have to be moved forward for that one.

Hey Keith, Im actually in Tucson, dropped boat at shop a couple hours ago, saw motor, looks good. they dynod it with all my belts on and none came off so hopefully moving the p/s unit lower and shorter belt fixed the belt throwing problem. they tell me should be all done by tuesday eve, if so im ota here then so I can make Parker Tuesday night, staying at a friends or in LHC at kids house. should be home by friday. had a nice uneventfull(whew) trip here. no problems with truck or trailer.
Look forward to seeing you and Al saturday, tell him to look for me in the morning .
