This is a comparison that has too many variables. Its not cut and dry. There are too many kinds of jets and v-drives.
For example; a light weight, full race, CP (for example) with a perfectly set up combination will beat a heavy lay up incorrectly set up non runnerbottom flatty even with the same power. On the flip side of that, a 300 pound, canyon runnerbottom, perfectly set up, will beat an incorrectly set up heavyweight jet (like wsuwrhrs boat) with same power.
The question is, which propulsion is more efficient?? Going by the record books of similarly pared powerplants of racing. My opinion is the v-drive is (just my opinion).
Back in the 60's, the jet was designed to remove the danger of the prop, simplify the installation, and cut cost. The added space in the boat was a nice bonus.
If you can have a boat that runs 100 with a smooth riding hull, 4 seats, cooler, and a stereo, thats bitchen!! But don't think your boat has the only propulsion method accomplishing that. LOL:cool:
Someone pass the popcorn please!:D

I dont recall a question about which propulsion is more efficient, each has it's own place, fit and function some are more suitable for running up and down the river and some are more at home on the trailer..lol :p

The debate is about the rumor on the street the BGman posted, he ran his race when he was ready not when everyone was out running and post saying he was Big Bog. I'm just glad he's not representing my group with a fairy tail post.
I also never posted that my setup was the way to go, each to his own but look at NJBA numbers a jet and a v-drive with the same mph the jet will have a lower et right or wrong?
Are we still having fun??

Blah blah blah, note to the v drive guys dont waste your time with this bunch, there will always be some reason they dont race or win.
"I could have took him in the 1/8 mile, that is real river racing"

Dis is some funny ass caca. It always winds up the same way. The squirt boys all go out and hop up their "lake boats" go out to the lake or river get smoked by a flatty "that really is a race boat" and then they claim that they should have been beat. "But my boat is a family boat that pulls the tube and skiers around." blah blah. I have not seen ANY family boats that run a scoop designed to trap more air than a swamp cooler. You guys all seem to remember to the inth degree every little detail about the races you have at the river. All of the jets I ve seen run out of your group run very fast, just be like Hbjet and take it like men.

Your average family lake boat does not have a a spacer for the plenum on the manifold nor does it have reversion or sheer plates for the manifold. Nice stuff by the way!!

The compairison question was my offering as a response to your "Jets can run right up there with the v-drives if not quicker" comment.
Are you saying that a jet is better suited to running up and down the river? And that the v-drive is better on the trailer? Your being just a little too vague.
I can't speak for the BGMAN so I won't, but so far I have no reason to doubt him.
I don't agree that the NJBA numbers indicate jets are quicker with the same mph. Maybe in the 1/8 mile they are, maybe not, who cares. Why do jet guys allways want to say the're quicker out of the hole?? What matters is... who gets to the end first right?
The fact of the matter is, v-drives are more efficient with a higher performance potential than jets. Also, a v-drive can be rigged to compliment passengers, coolers, stereo and half naked chicks just as easily as the jet counterpart (Good v-drive candidates; Cougar tunnel, Rayson craft Grand national, Rush Performance hull Schiada and Hallet ski racers ).
Just to make sure you know ... My involvement in this "debate" as you call it, stems from your trailer queen comment!
As I said before, you don't see me in the jet forum talking smack.
BTW nice pics.:)
Dam this popcorn is good!:D

I'm saying jet and v-driver all have there place I believe it's a preferance as to what your going to use the boat for and were your running the boat. I like them both.
As for speaking for BGman I can only report why cyclone, cs19, big proppa and myself did not run him and it was not because we were afraid to loose, we were done for one reason or another (cs19, big proppa, and myself) this was the our lake test.
It's this statment The jet-boat camp said that this v-drive was too fast to run up against that BGMAN took some liberty with to clam Big Bog. But yes at the end of the day he was Big Bog, I'll give credit due were due.
HBjet ran all day and took on all comes while BGman sat on the trailer most of the day, maybe he had problems alos dont know , but the trailer is where it was parked most of the day just call what I saw.
Talking smack in v-drive or just jets forum is still talking smack. I have been mostly talking about what happened this weekend first hand, not what someone else posted and tring to cover for them.
Thanks about the pics..
BTW post some pic of your ride....
