Bite Me Doghouse, You know where im coming from.
Ok Duuuuuuuuuude! :D
This is most likely the first real 36' Daytona to come off the floor at Eliminator with a bitchen layup and some serious hardware. It's going to be intresting to see the results. Im sure it will do very well, they have been doing it along time.
I just wouldnt ever buy one
Sincerely,
Duuuuuuuuude
Yeah I know what you're saying. I agree that there is a difference between the west coast boats and the serious ocean hardware. If I had the cash for a serious piece and wanted to go really fast or head offshore, it would be a Skater, Nortech, Spectre, MTI, or the like. For more moderate lake use, I would stick to the Elims and DCBs because the interior layouts are more user friendly.
By the way, what is "balsa foam core"? Coring is used to increase the thickness and hence stiffness of a laminate without adding a lot of weight. End-grain balsa is widely used in boats because of its light weight and good compression and bonding strength. Foam coring materials have been used to a lesser extent (HTM being an example), but I haven't heard of a combination of the two.
Bre...the warranty on Eliminator's hulls and gel-coat is 5 years. We cover ANY manufacturer error......We just can't cover the beach and dock dings!!!!
dtr352.....I apologize if you received poor service in the past. Lance has been the service manager for the past several years since he came to Eliminator from Warlock. He has been doing a tremendous job of taking care of our customers.......I don't know if maybe there was some sort of miscommunication or misinterpretation but I would like to get the problem resolved. IF the gel issues are Eliminator's fault, then we WILL fix them. Please call me at the number below or PM me with your contact info.
3DO, relative to paint/ graphics I was in reference to some of the extreme paint jobs that have been showing up these days on high dollar boats. Take for example the new 40 Skater that has shown up at Havasu, I can gaurantee you that cost close to $100k.
How about the new $1.4 million dollar 50 Skater in Powerboat's August edition. This is a twin engine boat, (Sterlings, $$'s), but the horsepower and drive system is equal to Bob's new 36. Thats $28k per foot. The bottom line is Skaters and MTI's are way more expensive then an Eliminator. Realistically they should not even be compared as they are a completely different boat. Regardless of power, a Skater is a race boat. Each and every one of them. Your Spectre for that matter is the same. It was designed and is manufactured as a race boat. The Eliminator and some other manufacturers build a pleasure boat with some race boat features they have gathered from racing experiance. Big difference.
I dont think that Bobbits paint job was near 100K, expensive but not 100K. Its a sick paint job, but your over estimating the cost. The 50 Skater 1.4 million is price as tested, that means nothing, sounds good, but means nothing. Every boat manufacturer places a high value on there boats which is way above norm in a magazine article as Eliminator does all the time. Im not comparing a Skater to an Eliminator, thats apples and oranges. Just looking at the fact that this praticular 36' Daytona is going to be extremely pricey, somewhat near what a Skater could have been purchased for. Dont you get that part, im not bashing the boat.
What is the retail list cost of this boat going to be, lets say price as tested, you know its going to hit the magazines?
What about the Vacum Bagging, Is it really vacum bagged or was that BS.
Since you might have gone to the trouble of bagging the boat, did you also end up going to foam / balsa core instead of marine grade plywood.
Vacum Bagged, Epoxy Resin, Carbon / Kevlar Layup - Getting Close, Closer then any other West Coast Mfg'er
Ok Duuuuuuuuuude! :D

I should of put a / in there Balsa / Foam Core. End Grain Balsa Coring, & Foam Coring.
Wood materials provide excellent compression and stiffness properties for a low cost, but they can be heavy, susceptible to water absorption, and will eventually rot. Foam cores can be much lighter, fungi resistant, and do not absorb water or any other fluids encountered in a marine environment. There is also evidence that foam cores have better fatigue resistance than balsa wood. Laminates made with foam cores can last longer and weigh less than wood cored laminates, while producing adequate physical properties. Wood is still a viable material to be used in areas where highly localized compression loads or through fittings are present (such as engine mounts and around cleats), where the appropriate high-density foam core may be too expensive.

Oh then I guess ours is up. Ours is a 99. Is 5 years what everyone else does??

I think that is the standard, I have seen some of the newer manufacturers have a 7 year warranty but whether they will be in business in 7 years is up to debate.
Jamminjamin,
Good job in responding to these issues and comments. Hot Boat has a tough crowd. Eliminator has being nothing but stellar to us. From Dan in Sales (AWESOME!) and George to Mac in LHC Eliminator. You guys are the reason that we will buy another boat from you. Plus I just love hearing all of the Eliminator Haters, it must count for something when you disliked soo much.
sorry, but im not coby..... my name is brandie.... who are you??
I just assumed that with the name KidStuff you were Coby Klein, My mistake.
