I've posted these before and as I was looking for a new avatar pic I came across them...
Check them out. The boat is a 24' Campbell and the owners had recently purchased it and had it restored. They were on a "shake down" cruise on Lake Castaic when all hell broke loose....I don't know the owner, but I knew the prior owner. The fuel line cut loose...
The pictures tell the story.
Pic # 1 All is well!

NO INJURIES....:)
Except maybe the mechanic who forgot to clamp the fuel line on tight...

A little wet sanding and some wax......good as new.

What a shame.   :jawdrop:
hopefully no one was hurt.

They changed the name to Long Over Done:(

Too bad there wasn't a jet boat around to put that fire out before it did all that damage:(
I was first on the scene one day on Berryessa with a ski nautique in full blaze. While I was plucking folks out of the water a jet boat came up and dowsed the fire. Prolly kept the boat from being totalled.

I don't know that I'd be hanging around on the boat with the fire extinguisher... good ad for an automatic system.

i dont think the little extigushers we carry in our boats would have done much for that blaze.

Sorry to hear of the loss, hope he had it insured, or atleast the shop who did the resto is liable?
-
Sorry to see that. At least no one was injured. Perfect example for an automatic halonsystem in the engine compartment. They cost about $250 installed, at least it was close to that when we had the boat built, and it gets us a 10% discount on our insurance rate and it is peace of mind. Evey boat withy an enclosed engine comaprtment should have one IMHO.

God that sucks!!!! :(
Whats up today? Someone had their boat stolen, Newly restored cambell burns to a crisp. This sucks!!!
The cambell situation is made worse because:
1) First trip after full restoration
2) It was a sweet Cambell V-Drive!!!!
3) The poor owners had to watch as their sweat, blood, and tears burned down

That really sucks! But what would keep a boat from burning to nothing? I looks like this one stoped burining after the interior burned.
