This is HTM's official response to various rumors and innuendo read on these message boards.
1. There has never been a known case of an HTM delaminating, ever.
2. Steve Coulombe does not spend $30,000.00 a month keeping his personal engine running.
3. We do not know of an HTM old or new rolling or flipping over.
4. HTM provides excellent warranty service to it's customers.
5. HTM holds the documented speed record for a single engine stern drive at 143 mph.
6. HTM is solvent and doing business we recently opened our second facility in Barstow, CA.
HTM concentrates on building high performance boats that are reasonably priced we do not bash or spread rumors about our competitors. It would be easy to guess the authors of some of these messages. We invite anyone with questions to call or stop by one of our show rooms or better yet if you are in the neighborhood of Lake Castaic this weekend (Sept. 29-30) watch us race and you can see what it's all about without reading anyone else's opinion.
We welcome all comments and inquiries!
See you on the water!

Its about time you stepped in. I was getting tired of all the bad vibes.....God I still Love my boat, 65 hrs and not a trouble to be found......
Welcome to the Board, look forward to your input and good luck this weekend!!!!
I'll be in havasu for the advantage regatta...Dont ask why..
P.S. If Steves not spending 30K a month on one motor maybe you can spare a procharger and XR upgrade, to a loyal happy customer.
Does'nt hurt to ask
Thanks

HTM Racing - Welcome to the boards!
I think the majority of the people that have frequented these boards have become edumacted enough thanks to a former poster named Jackass001 to know that when somebody starts bashing a manufacturer on his 1st or 2nd post, its likely to be either a disgruntled ex-employee, or a competitor trying to make brand X look bad.
I dont know a lot about your boats but I can tell you we all really appreciate the manufacturers coming into these boards to answer questions about the products they build.
Hope you can make it to the MFR OP6CL
next summer in Parker & show off your guns! I for one would really like a test ride.

HTM Racing, your input is appreciated and a long time coming. However, could you answer some important questions?
1) Do you officially represent HTM?
2) What is/are your name(s)?
3) Why did you list a socal email address and not a hightorquemarine email address?
Thanks

Glad to see that you guys posted on here about all of the B.S. that people have been saying about you and your company. My boat runs great, handles great and makes alot of other guys at the lake cry on the weekend when I lift the hatch and they see that they just got smoked by a single carb.
Steve, sorry for not sending your timing light back. I just remembered that I have it and I will send it to you today, you'll have it tommorrow.
-
Thanks for clearing that up and
WELCOME!!!

Finally. Good to have you Steve. I have been telling Ken to get on here also to clear some issues and just be a part of this growing entity of hot boaters.
BTW, go the the topic that reads MFG's Op6. I talked to Ken about it already. It'll be good to get all of the builders together for a little BeerBQ that we're throwing.
-
Steve, its nice to finally see you on the boards and clear up some of these rumors on here. I hope you make it out the Mfg's OP6 party, yes it is just a party not a boat show or evaluation thing just everyday Hot Boaters who also happen to be consumers getting together for a weekend at the river.
Good luck this weekend and enjoy the boss's motorhome.Tell Don he still has time to go get his boat.

I keep seeing htm racing what actually are you racing?offshore or what?did not see any htm's at the popra offshore races.

Steve and Lia, Glad to see you finally came to this board to defend yourselves! I love my HTM http://free.***boat.net/ubb/biggrin.gif James

I stay at the same RV park as Steve in Havasu.
I have not seen anyone be so willing to push his boat to the limit and continue to improve the boat, the engine, the outdrive.
He is always willing to stop and talk about what he has done. and give some helpful hints.
I have not seen anyone that is more proud of their product. He is always smiling an seems proud of what he has made.
When we hear him start up his motor we will go sit by the water and watch, the boat is amazing on how it handles and how quick it is.
Steve I wish you the best of luck with your company. I would not hesitate recommending that someone look into your boat before the purchase another boat.....

I don't know about other groups but HTM has been running the new IHBA drag class for I/O's. Pretty impressive to see a "big" boat at the drags, and then rip off a 9 second pass at over 125 mph http://free.***boat.net/ubb/biggrin.gif They have been running a B-Max drive. Ahhh..if only the B-1 would hold up, Firebird Lake is only 20 miles from here!

Steve welcome to the boards. It is good to see a Manu. get involved in these topics. Always good input. Hope to see you out at OP6CL Manu. event next year. I went for a ride in a blown 24' about two weeks ago at Castiac. They said the boat ran somewhere in the 115-120 range. FAST! I have a smaller cat on oarder right now.

HTM will be in the World Finals, at Fire Bird Raceway next month. Hope to see you there.. Oh Yeah we do get discount tickets so if your going, let us know and we might be able to send some out to you..
RESULTS FROM IHBA CASTAIC DRAGS
Darren Elliot with an HTM SS-24 took 1st by 1 hundreth of a second. Darren and Steve were neck and neck (or sponson to sponson) http://free.***boat.net/ubb/biggrin.gif
Steve Coulombe with an SR-24 took 2nd:P
Chuck Weisman with an SS-24 took 3rd http://free.***boat.net/ubb/wink.gif
Ken Lane with an SS-24 took 4th http://free.***boat.net/ubb/smile.gif
Roy Ayers with an SS-24 sadly got red eye http://free.***boat.net/ubb/frown.gif
Roy later paired up with an out board for a grudge match.. The out board got away from Roy out of the hole but half track Roy reeled him in and then passed him ..

To those in doubt, none of the HTM's broke down at the races, all drive's functioned perfectly. There was a mix of B-Max drives and custom built XR's by Steve, 3 HTM Motors which took (1st, 2nd, 4th), 1 Don London Motor which took 3rd and a lower by HTM and upper by Roy Ayers took 5th.
WE HAD A GREAT TIME http://free.***boat.net/ubb/biggrin.gif
-
I was there and was quite impressed by the performance of those boats. Didn't expect such large boats to run like that. Looked great at the top end!
-
Hi Andy,
Glad you were able to get a ride on an HTM. Congrats on your boat order, it doesn't matter what boat your in as long as you are having fun! Hope to see you at the river some tome http://free.***boat.net/ubb/smile.gif

Hey HTM Racing, Was there anything there but HTM's in the I/O class? What were the other speeds if you can recall? As I stated before, I'd love to run my Advantage at Firebird for the finals, but I'd hate to be the real slow guy! My cat just ran 107 at Havasu, but that was with a big run up! Quite a bit more then 1/4 mile! At the very least I will be there checking it out for possible future participation. If I could just get IMCO to "loan" me one of those new drives to hammer off the line http://free.***boat.net/ubb/biggrin.gif

HTM Racing, did HTM change the bottom of there boats ever?? The reason I'm asking is I went for a ride in two HTM's a while back and they had some "problems" however I went for a ride in a couple of newer HTM's and it was 1000% better. I'm curious what changed, X dimension, Possibly the driver, bottom etc..

Hi Craig
http://free.***boat.net/ubb/biggrin.gifWe hope next year we will be able to open the class to other brands. We will be at firebird and bring out the big guns. At castaic we brought out the bracket boats for firebird we will have brackets and full out drags. Top speed at Castaic was 114mph. If your at firebird come and visit. Originally posted by Craig:

Hi RiverDave2, Yes our bottom designs have been changed. New models can be improved upon, they were slight but they made a great improvement. Some new drivers do not know how to use the the drive trim properly until they get a little seat time. X dimension is a part, some guys want top end only and they don't care about the lower end so they request their drive as high as possible, we have a sweet spot for the x dimension where it's great for all around. Don't forget about props, and drive showers. I have seen a drive shower mess with prop wash causing boat not to plane properly, same deal with props. I think most boats are that way. When getting a test ride from any company you should be in their newest product line and a driver who knows that boat to get the best performance of a product. All the boats out there are good, it's just what you like and what your wife will let you spend. http://free.***boat.net/ubb/wink.gif Originally posted by RiverDave2:

HTM Racing, I am assuming you ran 143mph based on what I read in these postings. That speed is totally cool and awesome. I would be grateful if you could provide me with the following information about that speed run. I would like to know what kind of drive you were running and how much power the engine made? What was the gear ratio, prop pitch and engine rpm? SS or SR? Thanks.
-
HTM Racing. My wife and I are already sold on the open bow SR-24. My question (like everyone else's) is with regard to power options. I thought I wanted the 496 HO with one of the new blower options and then I took a ride in a new SR with a built 573 and it was sweet! Do you have any performance expectations such as what I could expect from a 454 on up to a blown naturally aspirated plant? Do you have anything on paper or is it best to contact your sales dept? I just got your video, but it didn't really address these areas.
-
Hi SVO 540
Boat was tested by Family Performance Magazine. It was radar and GPS at 143 mph.
http://free.***boat.net/ubb/rolleyes.gif
HTM SS-24, 1:35 gear ratio, HTM's 565 pro charged, 7200 RPM, 33 pitch 4 blade custom prop.

We are running some package specials and Steve has all the details. Please call and We can give you the MPH speck, we need more information on your exact package, approx amount of people you usually carry, if you want it proped for water skiing, ETC.. before we can give you estimated MPH.

-
Preesh. Thanks for the prompt reply...I'm happy with the service so far.
-
HTM Racing, the specs on the 143mph pass are F'n awesome. To me, that seems untouchable. How much HP did the engine make?
-
Had an 1150 HP tune up, we had a pulley change that would have made it 1300 HP.
When we pulled the boat out for more fuel and pulley changes we noticed that there was so much water pressure entering the drive at high speeds, it hydrauliced the Imco nose cone (2x2 hole), putting an end to the next size pulley. The first pulley ran the # so we left the big pulley change for a later date. The next pulley change should take us well into the 150 MPH range. Since then we have put a pressure relief valve relieving the amount of pressure in the drive. We will be doing a new test in the near future, we will keep you posted. Give us a call and we will send you a copy of the press release.
-
I have been following the threads on the cats for some time and wanted to add some imput . I was at Wilkes Marine in the last few weeks and saw a Teal and Purple HTM with a purple pro charger motor it had sufferd delamination of the center pod and both sponsons this I saw myself and i have been around for some time . also isnt a HTM a 28 foot Warlock the 4 feet chopped off ? im sure of that. So i think HTM should be added to the splash list lets tell it how it is if were going to clear the air!!
-
Hi Haulina 29,
Sorry but YOU THINK WRONG! You can come and visit our facility any time and see the photo's of the SR-24 plug from start to finish. It is NOT A SPLASH. You are insulting to us and all the manufactures who do not splash, it's because of your I THINK rumors start that are not true!!! Our hulls are original designs and have been Copy Righted. You can see them on the internet on the United States Copy Right web site loc.gov/copyright go to Vessel Hull protection act or D-VH. You will see the SR & SS 24 with many other original vessels. We were the first to test the new law. It was against a spashed set of SR-24 molds, we won. As for the delaminating vessel you had seen, it's kind of funny if it is an supposed HTM why did they not contact us to let us know about it. I know Jim Wilkes from Wilkes Marine and I'll give him a call today to find out about what you seen. I'll keep you posted on the truth. http://free.***boat.net/ubb/biggrin.gif

Hi Again,
Called Wilkes Marine and found out what you saw. You and others have seen this boat, and that is a perfect example of how people develope rumors of stress cracking and delaminating. There is always two sides to every story and in this case it holds strong. I take it that you did not speak to the owner of the Virage built SR-24 about why his bottom looks the way it did.
FACT : Customer had no boating experience and this was his first boat.
FACT: Customer brought boat into HTM a few weeks later because there was no water coming from his exhausts. After inspecting the boat which looked as if it had been dragged through a rock quarry with severe cosmetic damage to bottom and drive. Sand packed the low water pick up and burned the impeller out causing it to not get water to motor / exhaust.
FACT: The Customer explained to us that he had drifted close to the rocks and instead of hitting reverse he went into forward gear by mistake. The customer said he had an automotive body shop that owed him a favor and he would have them repair the boat.
FACT: Approx 6 month later he was in the ocean off the coast of Calif. and had ignition failure and could not restart his boat. He was close to shore when this had happened on a rough day. His boat road the waves all the way to shore and was thrown into a rocky beach.
FACT: After this second accident he had taken the boat to Rason Craft and had them do the repairs to the bottom of the boat. It now had internal damage due to accidents, but was overlooked by Rason Craft. This vessel should have not been fixed but totaled.
FACT: Approx. one month later the customer brought boat to us for inspection because the previous repairs were failing. It was the most hidious repairs HTM has ever seen.
WE found rough texture gel over unfinished body work / unfinished repairs / and internal damage / cracking and pealing repaired areas. At that time we highly recommended to the customer that his insurance should total this vessel because it was unsafe and was a bad reflection of our name.
FACT: Boat sat at HTM for two months while we waited for the insurance companies decision. The insurance would not cover the boat because of some drive / owner discrepency.
THAT IS WHAT YOU'VE SEEN and we do not know what has happened to this vessel since then.
