Woops he does it again! http://www.motorsportspictures.com/s...s/IMG_0099.JPG
 OK>> New Guy here'
A couple questions. How do they start the race? from a dead stop, ideling, or up on plane?
How far do they race,? And what is the wight difference between the boat's??? And when and where does this take place?? can anybody show up? :D
IHBA & SDBA RAce's (which are where my pic's are from)
We Start from a dead stop hanging on a rope.
WE race a GPS measured 1/4 mile.
We race bracket race for ET's (12 second, 11 second, 10 second, ect.) Any motor, any weight, any type of Boat!
Anybody can race as long as they have all the correct saftey gear!
There will be two race's (IHBA) down your way in Oct.) Check out schedules at http://www.ihbaracing.com/
Or in the south at http://www.sdbaracing.com/
Come on down!
Ya got an outboard?
If ya want to race only outboards and race from a rolling start, Photo finish, Weight restrictions, motor restrictions, fuel restrictions, But a lot of fun! check out http://www.odbaonline.com/
yep, jawdrop and I can build two bad ass BBC's for the price of your one weedwacker ...
Never did understand outboard motor prices....
Outboard price's can be summed up in one word..........Mercury!
YO Rocket. Thank's for the comeback. Ya I am familiar with IHBA. I'll be at firebird in oct. for sure. Let me redirect my question. Dosn't the BBSP. take place on Havasu? I was referring to them other picture's, the ones that wasn't wearing safty gear. eek! Oh and sorry Dude Iv'e got a flatty. :D Them eggbeaters are quick but they sound funny. :p wink
Hey waterbox, sounds like what to you?........( . )( . )........ This is a little OB, you should hear the big ones! :D

Hmmm the inboard wins, it is a race boat, belonging to mike. The second is acouple of novice jet boaters against a "race only" outboard. What gives? I could paste them all. Not in the boat I own but rode in. An MTI 42ft.

My little thing in the video above will take you on in April in Havasu---1/4 mile...Speed Alley...You couldn't paste a picture up.......( . )( . )........ :D
Kim, I am bull shittin ya,I worked at an mti construction place for a total of 2 months.Believe, me you would not have wanted to trade places with me.That said, I am also the guy that posted about merc and china.I am a jetter and have lost a race to 2 outboards, both mercs, and wanted to stir the pot.I love the big mercs and the engineering involved. I still like to race them on the lake and have n occasaional bbsp against non race boats.I am curiouse as to your, and other opinions, regarding the place of the eliminator daytona in the outboard world.
Those aren't outboards.......( . )( . )........
When is the next BBSP at havasu??? I would really love to check it out! :)
21' Eliminator daytona! That is one fine ride with an Outboard (or whatever on back)! I had a Liberator (Daytona Splash) and it was the best boat by far, I have ever owned! Great in Big water, Fast as hell once you get thier big butt's out of the water! Great party boat (mine had seating for seven). Good looking and real safe!
Two thumbs up to the Daytona!
When I buy another lake boat it will be either a Daytona or Liberator or a Cougar 21'! smile_sp

What is the boat's like Seebold run's?? there 100+ boat's I thought they were big one's. There kinda like hearing a Honda go down the street. Harley's sound much better don't ya think :D wink :p
I was just kidding around with you, mine is a V8 with open offshore exhaust! I love it to be loud, same as a Harley! When my exhaust is out of the water, sounds like a car with open headers......( . )( . )..... :D

Never did understand outboard motor prices.... If your talking building yourself then a wacka can be build for considerably less than showroom sticker.
But let's talk about rebuild prices...
Say you detonate a piston or something like that. How much is that gonna cost to fix??

This is the 3-Time World champion ODBA unlimited class 2000-2001-2002! (stay tuned for 2003)
Wow, those outboards look really fast.
You Te
Wow - I'm down to 2 stars.
Would somebody tell the jet boys not to hate the playa. Hate the smoke. :D

This is the 3-Time World champion ODBA unlimited class 2000-2001-2002! (stay tuned for 2003) That's pretty sad that an unlimited deal only runs 8.30's. You would have a hard time winning ski flat @ NJBA with that timeslip these days.
Comp flats like Jeff Martins 146 boat are running deep deep 7's.
BTW, my 1974 Hondo was running 8.0's when I hung up my drag racing days.

Well gee SD013,
If you started like the boats in the ODBA you might just have found yourself in the 9 sec class not the 8 sec second class.

BTW, my 1974 Hondo was running 8.0's when I hung up my drag racing days. How many cubic inches was that? Not enough to be an unlimitted that's for sure. I think I was making around 35K a year back then. My racing was pretty low buck. So how much money do you think is tied up in an unlimmited wacker engine?
SD013,
The distance is 20 to 30 ft. mostly closer to 20 ft. in gear idle not over 1600 RPM.
They use a barge and a guy makes sure the boats are paired up.
Unlimited boats have a minium weight of 1300 lbs with driver and fuel.
So if you make a pass and win you better have enough fuel for the next pass no refueling.
A boat may start out at closer to 1400lbs depending on how big the feild is.
The same boat could run in the 1100lbs range, with drive and fuel but not in the ODBA.
So could your old flatty get spanked by an outboard, most likely YES.
So can big blocks spank an outboard, sure, they just need lots of horse power to do it.
You Te
You Te,
WOW that is a short distance.
Oh I know there is some outboards the could spank that old flat. I don't think any from 1974 would be doing it though. lol
Now that STV in the top pic looks to be running an IHBA or SDBA event as it's racing a jet.
What's that boat's e.t. at an IHBA style start?
