This next tuesay April 11th the Lake Havasu City Council will be having its regular meeting. On the agenda is suppose to be 4 or 5 items regarding the channel
If they do as they said at their last meeting they are going to address these 4 or 5 items one at a time. If my memory serves me they include...
parking meetings in the channel ( please no comments i am just the messenger)
stating a certain width for each boat i.e 15ft thus eliminating boats parking real close together in the channel - fewer boats less problems (again just being the messenger)
city staff was suppose to determne if their was anyway to limit drinking of alcohol
closing more of the channel to boat mooring
and I think their were one or two others...........
I am going to be their to make a point during the public comment section that we have enough laws on the books and that all they need to do is enforce them and all will be fine...
If you are interested - you can watch the meeting live on the internet. The silly little TV station I work for here is Havasu is now also broadcasting on the internet. Klhu TV (http://www.klhu.tv) click on web tv 45 and their it should be.
Also during spring break the coast guard was here in force. In a three day period they stopped over a 100 boaters - 6 oui's and a few more for not having the required safety gear on board. The rumor is that this Coast Guard task force will be on Lake Havasu every weekend - doing the same thing stopping boaters to check on safety requirements.
And thats whats happening in Lake Havasu....

Thanks Larry!! What time is the meeting I really want to watch it. Too bad I can't TiVo it
Tell them to paint lines in the sand for parking, or maybe they could install a toll gate at one end and charge anyone wanting to use the Channel as a shortcut? How about a valet service. You get out and they move your boat over to some rocky beach while you party, then they bring it back at the end of the day.

Why can't they just ask the guys from LOTO how they do it?

This one is Great....Spread us responsible boaters out and let the local scumbags in between ours boats to litter and make it seem as if we're the ones causing all the problems and leaving all the trash.

I'm tired of waiting for the jackass mayor and city council to vote on SOMETHING! Maybe even the channel. While waiting, I'm going to go get 250,000 of my 'illegal alien and unemployed friends' to march up and down McCulloch Blvd. That way we can get SOMEONE to listen to our side of the story before it's too late. You see, the TAXPAYERS are never heard, but the 'illegals and the unemployed' have the time to make a MAJOR STATEMENT while you and I WORK ALL DAY AT OUR JOBS! The new city council and mayor have been exactly the opposite of what they said they would be. They offered, "open government" and "listening to the people". They have done neither. Expect, a totally unrealistic plan for the crowded channel, and a city government(who don't go to the channel) unwilling to listen/compromise. One of the reasons we moved here was for relaxation in the channel, when that is no longer possable, it's time to move on! In the next local election, I'll vote for anyone who has not held office here in the past, and also is not a realtor, or a related profession. We need a REAL CHANGE! We need it now!

There's gotta be pressure put on the city by local businesses that will definately take a hit if new laws deter vacationers from going to Havasu! Put some money into fighting these dumb ass laws...just like native americans did to fight for their right to have casinos on "their" reservations. Another example of what happens when legislators draft laws that don't make any damn sense. The loss of revenue for Havasu if these stupid laws go into effect will cripple the city. The local officials are choking themselves and don't even see it. Havasu is booming, but retards running the show will screw all that up. :crossx:
