Thread: small block vs big block

I have the opportunity to trade a basically stock dissassembled BBC that's in need of a rebuild for a 350 hp small block that needs a head gasket.
I know there's a pretty big weight savings with the small block and they can be made to make some pretty big HP for less money.
    thoughts?

I can't believe you're goimg to start this up again. BBC, Cubic inches, BBC
Sure, "it can be done" with a small block. But do it the easy way, BBC BBC.
    Okay guys, jump on me.

I'll jump on with you, Duane. There's NO substitute for cubic inches. Every small block out there is lacking only one thing.
    DISPLACEMENT! :hammerhea

    Cas,
Its like this, to get a small block to work as good as a BB you have to stroke it, and stoke it. But in the end it will never be a BB. All SB want to be BB when they grow up. You have a BB and all the equiptment and hardware to make it work. Now you would neeed to get all that new or used somewhere. A small block has to rev higher to do what a Big Block does at just off idel. Save the money on the conversion and rebuild the Big Block.
    Good Luck Steve

Your right there is no substitute for a Big Bad Ford. If my BBF broke and I had a choice between a SBF and a BBC sorry I would go SBF. But thats me I have Blue blood running in my vains.

ok, I already have a boat with a BBC. I'm contemplating this for the Tahiti/Panther that's become a sleeping place for our cat in the back yard.
No intention on racing it, not even half a thought of making it go faster than maybe 65.
