I am thinking about driving in from Az. over the Thanksgiving weekend and taking off from LA, in the Warlock, and boating to Santa Barbara. I have a few questions:
I am very familiar with Newport and the Dunes launch area. I think it is very secure and easy to get around, Hyatt, restraunts, etc etc. Is there a better place to launch in Hunington or Marina Del Ray? Concerns are mostly reagarding security for the vehicle and facilities.
Anyone know a website or other information source for SB? I am looking for info on rental of a slip for a day or two and what kind of fuel facilities they might have.

Yes, you could try Sunset Aquatic in Huntington Beach (at the end of Edinger Ave) west of Bolsa Chica, but call first. Its a much shorter idle than from the Dunes at Newport Beach. There's a couple of public ramps in Long Beach, but not much security (actually none). Have fun...

Boating to Santa Barbara might not be so easy this time of year without radar. But I think clear skies are expected for a week.
And I am sure u realize that is a significant distance. Now from Ventura Harbor to SB, that is cool, or from LA to Ventura same.
And I think there's a thread floating around here were they mention sound issues in Santa Barbara.
I appreciate the information. I am guesing about 120 nautical miles. And I won't go without a good forecast. I also plan to file a float plan and have multiple radios and vessel assist card.
Anyone else have anything to add, I would appreciate it.
