Hundreds of children were buried in mass graves in India, and morgues and hospitals struggled to cope with the catastrophe. Somalia, some 3,000 miles away from the earthquake that sent tsunamis raging across the Indian Ocean, reported hundreds of deaths.

To think all those peeps that were vacationing for Christmas. They didn't even know it was coming!The footage showed all those bodies floating in the ocean like rag dolls. I'm still in awe.
It is truly unbeleivable......They had NO IDEA it was coming.....I could not imagine. Not at all.... :frown:
To make matters worse, the rebels on Sri lanka ( I think) had thousands of land mines buried that were unearthed by the water, and are now a threat to rescue workers trying to get into the area, and survivors trying to get out..........MP

Forensic, your right, the speed of the waves was 500 mph....the same speed as an airplane.
It happened around 8:00 a.m....people were on the beach and and tourists were drinking their morning coffee in the hotels. The beach had subsided over 100 yards for aprox 20 minutes....and then it hit. No one even knew it was coming. No warning whatsoever.

They said this disaster was equal to 10 atomic bombs. Enough to shift the worlds lithospheric plates....One of the worlds worst natural disasters in history!!! :sqeyes:
