Prior to my purchase of the Mandella flat, the Berkely JA pump had suffered a spun wear ring and spun bowl bushings. Once into it I discovered factory machining tolerances were not that tight back then and corrected them all with a lot of help from a fellow boater and machinist by trade. Here it goes...

Indicating off the bowl register since this is what technically centers everything.

Boring to correct spun housing and to place wear ring "on center".

Resurfacing suction to bowl flange, it was out .012 off square.

Resurfacing bowl, it was out .015, that would explain why there was a sweet spot to rotate to when mounting bowl previously.
Wear wring was then made from aluminum bronze ala CNC and installed to mock up pump to determine backspace clearance for Duane's stuffer.

Changing angle to 44 deg. to match my shallow back impellar and thinning flange for rear clearance.

Trimming back side of impellar to achieve .026 rear clearance.

Impellar and finished stuffer.

Doing finish cut to achieve .018 O.D./I.D. clearance and Duane's repair sleeve installed.
