The filler question would be dependent on the thermal properties/resistance of the filler material and it's relative conductivity compared to the Aluminum. Basically, it can't be something that changes it's molecular structure when heat is applied, must be inert at those temps, and conduct electricity in similar fashion to the bowl itself. The closer you get to the base material in each of these categories, the better your results would be.

All-metal body filler works good. http://www.handsontools.com/store-products-Refinish-Detailing-Body-Repair-Products-Putties--Fillers-Fillers-USC14060-<font-color=red>[b]USC-ALL-METALĀ®-Premium-Aluminum-Filled-Filler,-quart<-b><-font>_9187.html

im a metal polisher that works out of a electroplating shop

comes up nice though :supp:
any other qs let me know
matt
Matt,
I've got a question for you! Where is the shop you work at, and since this pump was polished in the first place from Agressor, what would be required to get it to the point of being ready to chrome? Agressor put a Dupont (?) product on it after polishing, and then I put on zoopseal. Any idea?
Thanks,
Ken F
hey ken! i work at ferntree gully platers in melbourne australia.
the best way to plate alloy is give it an ace polishing job, then the platers get it and put it in an etch solution, then put heaps of nickel on it, now if its for me or a friend i will get the part back and "color up" making sure theres no flaws in the nickel, then they will re-nickel it and through to the chrome bath!
if you dealing with crappy material, it can be coppered, color up the copper, then nickel, chrome...as with any other metal
take it easy fellas!
matt :rollside:
oh and if you were to get it chromed, the platers would strip it back to bare alloy, polish it again and then put it through! :hammerhea
matt
From what I've seen of a lot of cast pump parts, they'd fall into the crappy category, so Copper, then Nickel, then Chrome on the more porous stuff?
Thanks for the input.
Chris
