Lost smilees

Just got back from Havasu where I connect the computer with dial up. Now, when I go on, only a few of the smilees and other icons work, and I'm getting all sorts of red x's. Any ideas on a fix? I assume going through AOL might have somehow changed some settings, but I don't know what. I did a restart, but no change.

I did a system restore to a week ago. Didn't help. Somehow some setting is goofed up, but I don't know what. Smilees are turned on in my preferences, but about half the time, only about half of them show up in peoples posts. Other times, they work. HELP PLEASE.

...the image center is all jacked-up, along with other data areas....from what I've seen....I'm gettin' Rex-X's all over the place as well...

My backdoor doesn't work anymore either. Lots of changes, I guess.

I've heard Tom Brown mention a couple times that bran muffins will fix that right away.
