You might be right.I think it's 18thousands.Hello anyone know for sure?
Mallory YL type dual point:
.022 point gap, 26º dwell ea., 33º +/- 2º dwell total
Mallory YL type single point:
.018 point gap, 29º dwell
About the thickness of a match book cover has always been the shade tree gap.
So I have heard.
Skaterfast...if ya need the proper way to set up dual points (there are a few simple steps involved), E-Mail me and I'll give ya that info.
In this age of lightning bolt generating elctronic ignitions, it good to see someone remembers how to setup a points distributor. Here is a little secret from my days of Stock Class drag racing. Find a condenser (capacitor) that measures .18 uF (micro farad). Some of those old Mallorys came with .32uF. The difference between the two is about 1/2 second in a 16 second drag car. (I have seen and done this first hand). The more capacity in a condenser, the more it dampens the electrical 'punch' of the spark, or the 'rise time' of the high voltage. If you could get the engine started without one, it would run just find. Now for the hard part. You'll have to find a shop that still has a working "condenser tester", to tester and go through about 20 new or used condensers to find one with a low uF number.
MALLORY WASN'T THAT THE GIRL ON FAMILY TIES.
ya she was the ditsy daughter of the gay father.
Do ya think he ever checked her Gap??????
