If the air filter has a carb certification for that engine they are not by Ca law allowed to deny warranty because of the filter as I understand the law. I'm no attorney but you might check.
As for my warranty being denied, I had a drop-in K&N filter and no air snorkel in the airbox. They tried to tell me the cylinders were damaged from dirt and water entering the motor, thus causing loss of compression.
That's the biggest bunch of crap I've ever heard. These friggen companies must have a policy "deny first, ask questions later".
