    Dirk,
What kind of power did the original engine have and what was your speed?
I kind of remember you saying something about running in the 80's but could be mistaken.

I would be interested in whether or not this motor would pull an a/b impellar to 6500 rpm's when the pump is fully loaded.
Looking at how fast the torque falls off in relation to the horsepower gains I would doubt that could happen.
Not saying this is not a good motor. Just that the pump absorbs so much horsepower at the higher rpm's.
I hope it reaches your expections. Please let us know.
    Thanks,
    Kojac.
I'm going to guess that when he runs his boat with this new set up he will about 5800 or so

Im going to guess it turns real close to that as well, and that the motor runs hard for years to come.
That motor sounded tough Diggler, congrats.

Hmmm lets see here... This is a public forum to discuss ideas & ask questions. I don't feel in any way that 396 steped on anybodys feet! I think he was just asking questions & voicing concerns. Apperantly a few of you are overly sensitive about Dave at DNE? Great however I don't see a valid reason to be jumping all over this gentleman about his post! I can tell you that I would be more than concerned with oil psi in that range at that rpm! Now am I ragging on Dave??? No just saying that I would not be comfortable knowing that in a real life situation when the temp starts coming up the psi starts to fall etc... Of course I am not a dyno/engine expert, just another fellow stating an "opinion". As far as brain power in 1 room that must be the opinion of another... One more thing, if those that post about their equipment don't want to hear anything negative or questionable then in all fairness just don't post! Or be confident enough in your own shiat that you don't have to become defensive when another voices "an opinion" :notam:
Finally let me say congrats to diggler & very nice looking mill. Power is outstanding as always with DNE! Good luck
not overly sensitive at all, have no problem with questions, opinions, ragging, etc... but, i guess, since like you say its a public forum, if it's ok for someone else to say whatever they want, i can respond??? what i happened to notice was direct advice to diggler to deal with his "problem". i thought i responded to that advice pretty nicely.
maybe diggler could have used that advice when he bought that boat in the first place with the original so-called hi performance low hour engine that lasted all of 10 hours before eating itself up...

If that boat is wheeling long enough to drain both bowls on take off, he's got bigger problems than his float bowls
I'm gonna be called out as an asshole on this, and that's fine by me. 396, exactly wtf do you think you have up on anyone second guessing the oiling system on a mill like this? Put it in writing with a warranty eh? care how to guess those little pieces of paper cost when you're making this kind of HP on pump gas? Psi and VOLUME are both factors when keeping a motor alive. Dave doesn't "settle" for mediocre on his motors and I could never see him sending something out the shop door that was setup wrong (as you are insinuating).
Further more, a good deal of the gauges out there would barely respond to the difference between 52.7 and 48.4PSI on the dial. Last but not least, in this boat, 6500RPM isn't an RPM you're going to be running accross the lake at.
If you were just asking for your own edification, swell; but it looked more like you were picking apart a nice piece. I personally don't care, but let the guy enjoy his new baby, and rest assured that Dave knows what the hell he is doing when it comes to setting up these mills
    Chris
If you would read my post a few times before you add your little bent up pennies up then you would have understood what I was getting at jackass!!! I wasnt knocking the guy for his mill one bit.Honestly I am glad for what he accomplished. I was just asking a few questions and trying to get a few answers. I am far from a motor guru. I am trying to learn as much as possible just to understand. Thats why I was I was asking. I could really care less if the motor had 10psi of oil pressure or 100. So for you to come at me like that was wrong. And who in the hell are you to be worring about what questions I ask. I said he had good numbers and a nice mill. What more do you want me to do? Go to DNE and stoke them???????? Damn, some of you people really are some arrogant people...........and further more I really dont give a damn who reads my post and gets mad. I dont flame or pick at anyone on here so if you have something to say to me just blow me..........

396...I kinda have to side with Chris and bp here...that was a pretty stupid comment. You clearly don't have a clue as to what's going on there. There's more experience and knowledge standing there than in most dyno rooms in the country...possibly the world. That's a nice motor, don't get me wrong, but it dosen't even scratch the surface as to what experience and professionalism stands behind it. Get it in writing...thast's a good one. :hammerhea
It wasnt a comment. It was curiousity. And your right, I dont have a clue. I build my own shit. My mechanic is me, not my check book!! I have seen alot of dne motors at the races. I do go to firebird twice a year and see their work. So I am not doubting thier work. I was just looking for an answer since that gentleman delt with them and it was his motor that had the numbers. i was just curious to see what dne had to say about it. So whatever you have to say dont mean a damn to me! :hammerhea :hammerhea

Sure they were comments. More than that, they were insinuations, and even suggestions, as if you knew what you were talking about, and ol' Diggler needed your saavy advice. "..get it in writing.."
My calling your comments stupid was uncalled for, and for that I apologise, but when you make comments and give advice like you did without knowing who or what you're really talking about, you're kinda' asking for the reactions you got. :coffeycup

What kind of power did that thing make, if you dont mind saying.
Chris, will have final numbers tomorrow, was at 850 at 5000 and they shut down due to oil pressure. New pan in and ready to go. Have lots of RPM left with the turbo motor, so will see. Will let you know...Have a great time at FBC, since I started more radiation today, we decided not to go. Hope all have a safe and fun weekend! You should be seeing the boat next week anyway! Jill
