Thread: polishing brushed aluminum exhaust tips?

What's the process for getting a polished chrome look to my brushed aluminum tips? Do I just sand them with finer and finer paper, and then use a metal polish on them? How fine Would you suggest my last sanding be?
Also has anyone used Zoopseal protectant on polished aluminum, real expensive, but it's supposed to last a long time?
    Thanks,
    Steve

Is it something you can put in a lathe and spin the part ?

No, they're built into the transom. I probably could get them out if I really wanted to work hard at it, but before going to that extent I'd just leave them brushed.

TahitiSteve - Your thru transom exhaust tips should be bolted through the transom. Look on the inside and there should be 3 studs with nuts holding them on. Like this, even though you can only see two of the studs in this pic.
