Can Cactus make you sick?

I was doing some yard work yesterday and got stuck UNDERNEATH my fingernail with one of the cactus stickers and its swollen up now twice its size and my finger is really red and getting dark AND IT HURTS LIKE HELL.
I also am kinda sick to my stomach today..could it be from the cactus? I have no idea what kind of cactus it is but its the tall, skinny wild kind of looking cactus (not much help I know).......

I have been "bit" by cactus a few times but that has never happened. It may be just that your finger is infected and that could be making you sick. I would soak the finger in iodine or something and see if it helps. Hope it gets better. :frown:

An epsom salts bath might pull the infection out, or wrap your finger in bacon or fat if you believe a piece of the thorn is still in there.
On the bacon or fat thing, yeah, yeah, I know, but it works!

If it is infected I would highly recommend getting it checked out. Bad things can come from infection, including losing your finger tip.
