We're going to be out on lake Mohave the last weekend of August, the 25th - the 29th. Anybody going out there then?
Also I've never been there before. I have a 19ft. jet boat and have heard of the water getting pretty rough. Is it any rougher than Havasu?
Well we'll be staying in Laughlin it would be cool to hook up with some of you guys from the forums either at the lake or at the casinos.
    Late,
    Nate

If you want nice water for that boat drive to cottonwood and launch and boat north of there. Around Katherine Landing is all the traffic so it's just as bad as Havasu and after 1 pm the basin turns into the Ocean. If you'll be back by 1 then just boat up past Cottonwood.

I've boated at Mohave for years w/a 19' jet. It is more mellow launching from Cottonwood and going north, but you'll also be fine launching at Katherines and hanging south of the basin. It just depends on the weather. Early morning or late afternoon is best. If you launch from Katherines, as you head down to the ramp, you can turn right and go to telephone cove, and launch from there. It's a dirt ramp (at telephone), but usually less crowded than the main ramp, and a piece of cake w/your size boat. Mohave has lots of coves, so if you get caught in big water, you can work your way back along the shore, or just hang in a cove til it dies down. Other than that, Mohave SUCKS. j/k. Have fun.

Mohave is a great lake. Back in the day we used to go there with pop's 18' Kona jet. IF you get caught in a T-storm you're best bet is to park it and wait for it to blow through. We damn near sank several times out there trying to beat the storm & get back to Katherine's from past the powerlines. Freakin huge waves would come over the bow and the bilge was working overtime and so were we with the tupperware. IF the wind stays down and you don't get a t-storm you'll be fine. Just remember, with the big lakes you always run the risk of BIG whitecaps that can put you in a scary situation in a smaller boat with little freeboard. It can turn into an ocean in the blink of an eye so be aware of what the weather is doing.
    Have fun.

    8 dawg,
Mojave can be fun…however, launching on the weekend can be a bitch..There have been many a post on this vary subject…
    Some key points…
 Launch EARLY!! 7:00am works for Saturday, otherwise, be prepared to wait several hours unless you do the Cottonwood Cove thing (see previous post)
 There is a restaurant right at the marina; use the courtesy dock and grab breakfast right after you launch…nothing worse than having a hungry crew at 7 in the morning. :angry2:
 There is a “Copper Canyon” type hot spot called “Gasoline Alley”, exit Katherine marina and head to the right while on the main part of the lake, travel about 20 minutes and it will be on the right.
 Like the other peeps said, watch the weather, storms are popping up this time of year. :supp:
 There are some really nice coves to tuck the “squirter” in…I have a 19 footer as well so when the big boys come to play, I hide until the evening…one of my favorites is very close to the marina…just head straight across the lake from the marina, veer a touch to the left and explore the coves…
 As an option, the river in front of the casinos can be fun however this is LAKE LICE HELL…
    Have fun!!!

We just left Lake Mojave/laughlin this morning after spending 6 days on the lake.
Caution: don't leave anything of value out in the coves. We have been doing this for years but some a-holes boated to our cove and stole 4 anchors, 2 shore line achors ($100+ each), 4 fishing poles, 2 bbqs and misc stuff. It really pissed me off and my 6 years old was in tears because her new fishing pole was stolen.

We'll be there from the 19th to the 28th but we'll be way up above cottonwood. We are a very MELLOW bunch, all family with kids and boat like the olden days. Nothing raunchy with our group and we try to keep things on the mostly sober level but we do like to put a few back. This will be our second year doing the houseboat thing. We had a great time last year and found the lake to be great. Like everyone else has said it can become pretty nasty in the wide parts of the lake.
If you're a VERY mellow group and prefer the non roudy crowd stop by and say hi. However if you're launching way down a Kathrines it may be too far a haul in a 19ft.
look for this boat if you want to hang out and have a few
