I've got stuff sitting around to build a BBC short block. Is it best to leave it apart till I'm ready to put it in the boat(which I have no idea when thats going to be) or build it and oil it up and bag it.

I'd be interested to hear what popular opinion is on this subject!! I built a 327 that's been sitting in my 56 Ford for over 10 years!! Used graphite lube everywhere cuz I knew it would be sitting. Every couple years I stick the hacked off end of a distributor into a drill and turn the oil pump til oil comes out the lifters.....

I have a new 302 Ford that's been sitting on my engine stand for 5 years now! I just oiled it up good and bagged it nice and tight! Bought the thing when Ford was getting rid of a lot of 302 shortblocks because everything was going to the new 4.6's. Figured I'd put it in my old 89 Bronco. Damn things still running at 273,000 miles Just use it for commuting, so it just goes and goes! Never had the valve covers off or the tranny out!
