I suspect that the 1.242" compression height measurement is incorrect. Venolia lists pistons with a 1.280" compression height for use with 4.250" stroke on a 6.385" rod. That would leave the piston .010" down in a 9.8" deck block.

We have a winner. After measuring a bit more this all worked out
1.280 ch 13.1 comp. 4.25 stroke 6.385 rod pn 39369. Thanks a bunch for your help.
