Anything Velodyne makes is pretty hardcore also, and with better pricing.
Well, it looks like I have BAD luck with subwoofers and amps b/c the cheap and free JBL 10" sub I got for x-mas 4 years ago has finally given up. There are burn marks on the circuit board. and it might have something to do with me hooking up a 4 ohm 10" Kicker to it fro more output. :hammer2:
What kind of home subs should I look for at a reasonable price for the performance?
Can I get an amp and use the cabinet and woofer I still have and be set for future upgrades?
What kind of amps are cost friendly?
HEY ROZ !!!! Got any deals right now ???????

Sounds like the minivee would be a good fit

* 1000 watt RMS, 2000 watt peak amp
* 8" driver, 12.7 lb. magnet structure
* Plays low and loud
* Incredibly small, yet powerful
* Easy to set up and use
I have Velodyne ...
Figures.
Probably the hardest hitting subwoofer around - let alone for the $
EDIT:
Uh, ROZ? Have you seen the specs on the Velodyne CHT-R series? 230V???? Yikes! Nothing like having a 230V dryer plug installed in your living room, eh? Yeah, the wife'l love that.
Here is where I got mine, when you are ready to stop messing around.

I guess you all think I own a DCB or something, Let me rephrase, what can I go down to circuit city and buy that is decent and not too expensive?
Tell us what your budget is, and I am sure we could help you out a lot better. Or you can go with this one (http://www.svsubwoofers.com/subs_pb10_isd.htm) it really packs a punch.
I have the Velodyne HGS-15, found it new for $1625 and drove 2 hrs. to get it. VERY solid performer. 1250 rms, 2" excursion, 3" voice coil, 24 lb. magnet structure, 2 year warranty. Remote took a shit after a year and a half. Called manufacturer up and they sent a new one overnight, no charge.
A few of the Velodynes can be had for around 7-800 at CC or GoodGuys. 4-500 on internet.
any less than $400 you won't want in your living room anyway.

GoodGuys is going out of biz and has all their speakers 40% off right now, lots of new in the box stuff. I saw a few velodynes there but worry about where to take them back for warranty problems after all the stores close. They had the little one Roz has for about 600$ which is at the VERY top of what I want to spend.
I cant listen to anything there though b/c it is all disconnected.
