Simple Green. and Hot water.
I currently have my motor out and would like to clean up the bilge. It is pretty grimy and looks stained. It is gel coated (white) and I would like to make it look new again. What have you used and how well did it work? Thanks in advance.

I've always had good luck with Super Clean, warm water, and a little elbow grease. Old tooth brushes (or at least ones that aren't yours) work good for getting down in the nook and crannies and the brisstles are stiff enough to remove the caked on gunk.
A low pressure, pressure washer helps to, but you end up getting stuff everywhere.
Cool. Going forth with the motor project, huh? Good for you. Keep us posted in your old thread - or start a build up new one after your machine work and stuff is done and you start acquiring pieces.
Hope all goes well, and you hit your target budget.
SJ - Where would I get Super Clean? Never heard of it before.

Castrol makes it, comes in a purple jug... I usually buy a gallon of it at the auto parts store, or one of the department stores in the automotive section.
Simple Green works well also, I just can't stand the smell of it.
Oil eater.
white gel coat would work great!

Should probably clean all the oil/grease off first.....don't you think? :rollside:
