Funny... I am also happy that Landrieu didn't get elected, but saddened that Nagin did.

Shame on the Reps and Sens on both sides of the aisle for whining about the FBI searching Jefferson's office. This clown was caught redhanded on tape plus they found 90 grand stuffed in his freezer.
Further more the story has him using his powers as a House Rep to get National Guard memebers to take him to his home during the Katrina flood to supposedly "check on the condition of his home" when in essense he had them removing items such as the bribe money.
This guy does not deserve any special treatment and any benefit of the doubt is very very thin due to preponderance of evidence. Our pols need to wake up to the fact they are not above the law and their position does not give them special priviledge or consideration. Jefferson's office is well within the leagal systems rights for search and seizure like any common criminal.
Jefferson is a crook by the evidence and anyone in congress trying to defend any legal actions about his treatment needs to sit down and shut the F up. America's citizenry is reaching their limits on how much more of these arrogant retreads we can take. Dem or Rep it makes no matter, we have too many self centered imbeciles in office. 'Nuff said.

And amid the bitching about the search, it was a WARRANTED search. The FBI showed information and enough probable cause to a judge to get a signed search warrant for his office. What a looser. Ought to just shut up and prep for prison now.
Of course he IS innoscent untill proven guilty in a court of law. Maybe he can get a trial in Cali. OJ was found not guilty as was Blake. Now, wether they did it or not, who knows, they are "not guilty".

It goes to show you the arrogance of the politicians. This would not have been undertaken lightly due to the huge fallout involved. And in fact, they tried for months to get him to voluntarily allow it.
The law that the Congress is trying to use here, was designed to prevent members of Congress from being arrested on trumped up charges to prevent their voting on important matters. It is the same as the protections afforded diplomatic missions. It is also a matter of great concern when it is flaunted.
