500EFI Silent Choice Exhaust 2005 – One Side Heating Up?
This is a strange one. IÂ’ve been having some issues lately keeping the silent choice closed. I randomly need to reset the switch to close after it sounds like its open. A while back I sucked up some sand and gravel off the beach, clogging my cooling system. I put in a new Seawater Pump and Thermostat. Complete backflush multiple times. IÂ’m blowing down the lake and start smelling rubber burning. According to the gages everything is running cool. I check it out and the Rubber Couplings around the Silent Choice are melting from it overheating. It sounds like the inside flap is lose when idling. Any idea how the flaps attach to the rod inside? Any tricks on servicing? Thanks!

Simple system. Make sure the actuator is opening and closeing when activated. Take your exhaust apart to the point that you can see the valve and make sure its opening and closeing when energized.
