Tough question ya got there Nutts. Not too many people that post in here have the Cougars.I would say for me I would rather have a manufacture that is close to home than so far away.If problem occur but thats just a small deal really. The popularity and resale has to be considered if you buy it.I have heard they are good boats, built wise. Not too sure about handling and performance but getting 85 out of it shouldnt be a problem. As far as price I couldnt tell you, jsut keep looking around and see what an average is for that boat. Its like anything else,if they really want to sell, hit them hard on an offer and see what they do...Good luck.

Isn't cougar a very reputable company!!! From what I hear yes. I have driven one of their 21' tunnels and it handled well. It was well built. Price wise, I have no clue. Performance wise, it should do well. Take a look at back Hot Boat Magazine issues to see what the test said.

    Wow! eek!
Looks like a great boat. 23' should be big enough for most days on the lake.(Except holidays)
Price sounds fair, maybe they will deal a little since the resale maket is soft right now.

I got a 2000 Cougar 22 MTR with a HP500 EFI. Runs 85 mph.(my 4th boat) Nice workmanship, gel coat, etc. I am very happy with it.
Performance is excellent, no porpoise, stable at high speed.
That 23 is bigger than mine. I really like that pictured interior.
I would haggle on the price but your in the ballpark. (FYI: at retail the HP's are very expensive!!!!)
Look at Cougar's website. They have links to previous ***boat articles. www.cougarboats.com
