I bought a HTM sr24. The boat has a 502 mag with a vortec supercharger. Boat runs 89 gps with a 30 bravo prop. The previous owner said it has run a best of 93 with a 32 but said that the boat overall was better with the smaller prop. The problem I have is when cruising at about 30 mph the prop seems to slip pretty bad. Not sure how to describe it or if its normal or not but with the throttle in one spot the rpms go up about 500 then it seems like the prop bites and the rpms drop. It does this reguardless of trim settings. Not really a big deal and when over 4o mph it doesent do it. Just curious what you others are running for props.

Sounds like the prop is cavitating a little bit because the boat really hasnt air out yet and there is alot of resistance still!!

Are you running a shorter gear case?

I believe it is a standard bravo lover. Before I purchased this boat I tested another sr24 and it had a Hyromotive prop, this boat seemed quite a bit more responsive when the throttle was hammered. The hydromotive prop seemed to hookup better than the standard bravo prop. I wish I had access to that prop to see how it would react at lower planeing speeds.

The hydromotive will spool up a little faster just because of less blade area and it may have been a shorter pitch. The 30 Bravo isnt going to be really friendly in the 30 mph zone.

I have a 650hpefi motor with the limiter set at 6000. I'm running a stock 28P merc 4 blade. I can get up to 5850 rpm going ~86mph. I'm wondering if I'm underpropped. But if you go to a 30P, that could be a bitch idling around.
    Any thoughts?

I was having the same problem with my A/O 2600, Lots of slip with a 32 pitch Bravo 1 as you can see on the attached graph the 28 Maximus with the 15 5/8 diameter helped with the low speed cruise. The 29 maximus with 15 1/4 diameter did not help much. I just ordered the 28 this week I just hope my outdrive will like it. http://www.***boat.com/image_center/...oat_Page_2.jpg

Did you plot that data yourself or is that from a prop manufacture? What drive are you running? I assume that your running a 1.5 ratio. What peak rpms are you looking to run at.

The data in the graph was gathered by my son and myself I found the graph site online [Kids graphing] I just entered the info and the graph is plotted for you, There are many choices of graphs to chose from. I don't want to run much past 5600 rpm's with the motor or drive which is a 1.50 ratio with XR gears.
    Thx Dave.
