Wow, very impressive!
Please tell all how you took those pics!
Wow, very impressive!
thanks guys for all the nice comments. Really it's easy to take photos of lightning. I'm using a 4 year old Olympus C-5050 5 mexapixel digital camera.
I was using a tripod when I took those photos.
You have to have the ability to leave the shutter open for a about of time to capture these images.
Those first two, when the sun was still setting was difficult to get cause of the amount of light still visible to the camera lens. I was only using a 1 second shutter speed on the first two photos and has it got darker I could increase the about of time the shutter could stay open, and also decrease the F-stop. (16 secs max open shutter on that camera)
Other settings for the lightning are, manual mode, IS0 100, F-Stop around 4.0-5.6, (depending on the intensity of the lightning) focus set to infinity, flash set to off.
Awesome pics!! Love the the natural fireworks display. Saw some last night too over Lake Pleasant.
way kool pics...
That last shot looks like something from War of the Worlds or Independence Day!!! NSF
it was going off again big time last night over the Needles area but was just too far off to get any photos out of it. Hope get some more storms in Havasu this week! I'll post if I capture any good ones.
Nicely done Mike - always entertaining to see pics of lightning and yours are terrific.
