my brother-inlaw is into prospecting and really enjoys it. no matter where he goes he will come home with a couple 5 gallon buckets of stuff to pan.

I dabble in this as well. I usually go to Azusa canyon (So. Cal) at the East Fork to sluice and pan. I have found a few small nuggets (size of an eraser) and quite a bit if flake (placer gold) however the more interesting stuff I have un earthed is square nails, a pair of “granny” glasses, old gun barrel, belt buckles, lead slugs and a smashed old ring.
None of it is worth much but it’s priceless to me. The summer months are the most fun because the water is refreshing when it’s so hot.
Another favorite spot is “Bloody Gulch” in Holcombe Valley, N. of Big Bear Lake…have found some color their as well. :crossx:
