Eureka!
That is pretty cool! I have some family up in placerville area as well
my brother-inlaw is into prospecting and really enjoys it. no matter where he goes he will come home with a couple 5 gallon buckets of stuff to pan.
I dabble in this as well. I usually go to Azusa canyon (So. Cal) at the East Fork to sluice and pan. I have found a few small nuggets (size of an eraser) and quite a bit if flake (placer gold) however the more interesting stuff I have un earthed is square nails, a pair of granny glasses, old gun barrel, belt buckles, lead slugs and a smashed old ring.
None of it is worth much but its priceless to me. The summer months are the most fun because the water is refreshing when its so hot.
Another favorite spot is Bloody Gulch in Holcombe Valley, N. of Big Bear Lake have found some color their as well. :crossx:
