    Tech Question
I'm thinking about replacing my motor with a crate BBC Merlin motor....what exactly is a "Merlin Block"? What is special about them and do they match up with a standard Chevy block? Same bolt holes and bolt patterns?? I want to use the accessories off my existing Chevy 540.....will it all match up?
    Thanks

It's all compatible with the early style Mk IV blocks. The accessory mounting holes should be the same. If your 540 is based on Gen V/Gen VI, some things will not work, such as the oil pan, crank, cam cover, etc. Also be aware of the deck height, std is 9.8", tall is 10.2" and requires a different intake or spacers as well as different rod/piston/stroke combo.
