Thread: Vented fuel tank Caps?

The previous owner told me that he replaced the gas caps on my Cougar with flip-top stainless caps. I've noticed that my tanks don't vent at all right now and I don't want to crack them. Do they make flip-top caps that are vented? Can I drill a vent hole in mine?

Yup, they do make flip up caps that vent...

and they just have a small hole drilled in them. Drill a small hole in the ones you have and you'll be set.

Some of them don't "look" vented but are. They vent in the gap around the screw hole when the gasket is depressed (closed fill). Take a fill off and try to blow through it. A small hole like SD said works good too as an only vent or in addition to above.

Er, just a reminder... hot metal shavings + gas = b00m... then again, that would also fix your venting problem.
