I see both 10 degree and 12 degree casale boxes for sale. Whats the difference, and which is better suited for high performance?

I will leave this for V-drive Tom.
But it has to do with Shaft angle.
There are a lot of factors that contribute to performance.

I hope he says 12 because that's what I have.

There seems to be alot more used 10deg gears around than for the 12deg. I don't think there is any difference in overall strength between the two.

You should talk to Tom about setting you up with a v-drive. All of his Menkens stuff is interchangable with Casales. And I know for a fact that Tom is getting a set of good used 10deg Casale cases soon.

Gunslinger, The 12 Degree gear box was used when prop shaft angles were 9+ degrees. In a boat made before 1972 or so,it will work just fine. If you use a 12 Degree box in a boat with an 8 Degree strut angle, it will just put the engine up a little higher. It will work OK but, it is harder to find used gear sets and the shift housing is not the same design as the 10 Degree. Built properly, it will work just as good. TOM..
