Anyone ever ride/drive/own one of these?
    Either the P-29 version w/ Blackhawks (http://adcache.boattraderonline.com/6/7/5/85142275.htm)
or version with Bravo 1 outdrives (http://adcache.boattraderonline.com/6/6/2/85026162.htm)
I've been reading on OSO that the ones with Blackhawks will run mid 90's with about 500hp per engine - which would be cheap and easy to do with 383 strokers.

Both seems like fair deals . I would opt for the bravo 1 setup vs the BH drive ,because of the prop issue . I think the Bravo equipped could do better than 68 with twins. A 29 with a single 502 should do 70 .

The boys at OSO are saying 68-70 w/ single HP500. It's a deep, narrow V so not as efficient as something like a Sunsation 288. But I know a guy with one at LOTO. He said his 29 Scarab handle with big weekend water better than his brothers 33' Forumla w/ twins.

I was in a 1994 29 with single 502 Mag EFI [ 415HP]. It went 70 on the dash speedo .Take 5mph off for inaccuracy [ no GPS back then ] . With an HP500
it should do 70 for sure.

Those P-29's are cool boats. The P-38 is even cooler!

    Was that in the salt?

Cheetah used that bottom for their 29' CX Offshore. Works well in that boat with twins or single.

No. It was on Lake Okanagan in Penticton ,where Stan Kurtz was a dealer for Scarabs .Altitude is also close to 1000' there .I run a 19 Spectra jetboat on Skaha lake [ south of Okanagan lake ] and there isn't a noticable difference
performance wise ,compared to running it at the lower mainland at sea level.

From posts at OSO, they are showing the P-29 to run a solid 76-77 w/ 300hp 350's. The "standard" version of that boat with the same engines and Bravo outdrives they are saying goes 68mph.
From what I've read, those numbers are accurate. I'm just shocked at the difference between them. Any chance the Blackhawk could be that much more efficient?

The BH being a surface drive would be faster on top, but slower at holeshot for sure . Don't know how efficient it would be at midrange ,and what planing speed you could get out of a BH on a larger boat. For smaller boats like a 22 classic Donzi a BH drive would be great .
