I would have expected more mph w/23', 6.2 and 22p, I have seen a 63 out of Ziggy's boat which is identically equipped
what did your boat speedo say, usually they are on the + side of GPS
Speedo was reading 64. GPS read 59.1. Not horrible. Im supprised when we run in Havasu how many big blocks we hang with. I dont know if they are just not gunning it or what. 60 is slow though. I cant wait to get a faster boat in a few yrs.

They actually told me 60. So I dont feel that bad. Im 9/10ths off of that. Im sure if I just opened up the exhaust I could hit that 60 mark.
Not a big deal, the new boat will have 8000hp and go at least 100.
If you prop 8,000 hp properly you might be able to squeeze out 110mph. You may have to do it with 1/4 of a tank of gas though..
60 aint too bad... If your RPMs are 4800 /4900 you probably won't be able to go up on the prop. If you went to 24p you will drop your rpms about 300 / 400 rpm. I believe you want the max rpms to be around 4900 / 5000 for best performance...

That is exactly where Kachina's are with that motor and prop. No matter what that weedwacker runner says. A prop is not going to help much, anything you gain you will lose somewhere else. Call whipple if you really want that thing to go much faster.
496HO / 24p / 5000 rpm equals 66 in the winter and 64 in the summer for my 30' Kachina Shadow... Not GPS though just on the speedo, So I'm sure there is some slop in the numbers just don't know how much... But I know it's not off by 6 mph.

I dont think its too bad. I see a few guys with big blocks running slower..LOL Im not going to put any money into it. Its fun. Faster is always more fun but that will happen in a few yrs.

I have been in at least 3 different boats when we checked the speedo against gps. It has been about 3-7 mph off on all three.
I even tried it with two different GPS systems to make sure it wasnt the handheld.
Ours was off about 4-5.5 depending on our speed. At WOT it was off about 5. Im running Livorsi guages btw.

    He's running a 23' with a 6.2, please compare apples to apples.
Most compatible Kachina is a 23' bandit with a 6.2.

    What's the rev-limiter set at on a Merc 377?
You can always have the prop labbed or changed to a different pitch in order to pick up 1-200 rpms...

When you say 6.2 you mean a black motor I assume? I have a buddies Bandit in my back yard with a Scorpion in it that runs about 68. It's fast for a small block boat but the Scorpion is a blue motor without headers.
Mine will run 60+ trimmed all the way down, without a Whipple. It does have a huge cam and Dart Pro 1 heads, headers, Vortech, bigger injectors, Aeromotive fuel system, extruned honed intake, and more time and money than my wife knows about. :rollside:

Okay I'm going to call you out on that scorpion doing a real 68 m.p.h. I don't think it has that much more horsepower than a black motor. not 8 m.p.h.

My boat is an 06 with the new 6.2. Yes the black engine. Completely stock. No headers, no nothing.
