Thread: compression ratio

    trying to use big chief heads at 95cc on 11.1 block at 4.60 bore 5.00 stroke to get to 8.5 cr. how far will i have put the dish piston down in the cyl to get 8.5cr

    not enough info here, you need to know the amount of dish in cc's go to the gear heads forum, click on tech links, click on brc engine calc. and fill in the blanks.

    well your calcs are correct, I just don't like that much squesh. .100 in the hole plus .100 head gasket is quit a bit, but with 95cc chambers you don't have much choice. But it will definitly be detination(sp) prone, just be carefull with timing.

    The "right" way to go would be order custom pistons that would give you the ratio you want. That way you can order pistons that are cut to match the valve angle of the big chiefs, and get something close to a .040" quench provided with an off the shelf head gasket, and a zero decked piston.

    This is the road I took. Ross made the chief pistons. Mine are actualy
    .010 in the hole. I ran a .040 cometic. CC the heads gave 90 to 92 cc,s.
    Final comp was close to 8.5. This has worked well under the 10lbs intercooled
    boost.
