Thread: Do outboards need winterized ?????

    Sounds like a dumb quetion, but my sisters husband has a small bass boat and was wondering if it needs anytype of winterizing to be tarped and stashed at my house over winter

    Drain out any water ( Dont ask me how)
    Stabil the fuel
    Fog the cylinders

    make sure you check the bottom end for water... its a good time to change out the lube...

    trim it all the way down so water drians from the prop area then bag it up after you fog it down,optimaxs need to be antifreezed due to the water cooled air pump,standard out boards dont

    Fog the motor, and put Stabil in the gas. Should take you no more than 3 mins. Just did this the other day... :cry:

    I get rid of the gas thats left and change the oil in the leg, that tells you if you have seals gone...water in the oil ..........( . )( . )............
